Apple, you want students to buy Apple product, make the Mac (with decent memory/storage) affordable.

For everyone bitching about Beats -- just flip them on ebay or craigslist to offset the cost of the computer. Simple.

totally random and unrelated, but “uni” sounds still sounds so weird to my American ears. Like saying “when I was at uni” vs. “when I was in college.” Does “college” sound weird to brits/Australians? Just genuinely curious

In the French speaking world collège is the first half of high school. So yes college sounds strange and sort of low grade!

Has anyone yet commented that Beats are overrated or over priced or have too much bass? Because those would be completely orginal and insightful comments that certainly have not been posted over and over in any Beats related thread.

Yeah... A whole whopping $9 for a pair of USB C adapters, or a USB C cable, from Amazon.

IF that's a financial stretch, there are better jobs out there.

I think you are forgetting HDMI, MDP, and don't forget if you want to charge and use a device on your macbook at the same time, a splitter.

OOOO.. and DON"T forget all your old adapters for DVI and VGA for MDP, that now you have to replace to USC-C.

OOO.. and god forbid you have multiple work stations and need to get two of everythings.

Not sure what reality you live in.. Maybe for a student who only surfs the net.

No, but there is a thing as free beats ;)

I took advantage of this last summer when apple was doing this for the US and my daughter loves her beats headphones
Me too. This made a super gift for my (adult) daughter.

Tim cook gets you on the dongles, and ridiculous prices
And yet here I am with a new 27" iMac and free Beats and didn't buy a single dongle.

Fun fact: My 27" 3.8 GHz iMac cost less than I paid for an SE/30 in 1990. And I bought a used one! I've never found an Apple product to be anything less than a great value when usage, productivity and longevity are factored in.

Why did you switch when writing "one" in words, but then "4" in numeric format?
Genuinely curious.

Edit: I provided a detailed explanation of how to properly use numbers in a sentence and then went back and realized that his post was just hipster/gangsta/humor and made my post ridiculous, so I deleted it.

If you are an engineer who travels with your laptop (my reality), and, if you or your company can't afford the one-time purchase of necessary adapters (or, gasp, a whole cable) occasionally needed when visiting a customer site, then you should consider better employment. Ditto if you're a student and on a tight budget.

Apparently not being able to handle that, and getting the shakes in the process, sure says a lot about your reality.

If I got free Beats with a new Mac I'd sell them to buy other headphones with actually good audio quality.

seriously... Beats is good at nothing (except for marketing). BOSE is great at NC technology, Sony and Sennheiser have brilliant sound.... Beats don't sound good nor is their NC offer up to the competition... but the price point is comparable

I am 42 and I feel way older... I do not need that and all I see is money leaving my pockets and getting something I do not need at all and nobody needs.

The newer beats' sound isn't bad imo, not to mention all the benefits that comes with the w1 chip. It's been worth it for me.

Recent generations have much more balanced sound compared to the Monster days with better sound quality and clarity.

Beats may sound decent nowadays but I'll stick to my Sennheiser 598s and I'll likely pick up the HD6xx (HD650) from Massdrop for a cheaper price than the overpriced Beats Studios.

Indeed. I'll stick to my Sennheiser 598s and looking to get the HD6xx from Massdrop for less than the Beats Studio 3.

No dongles needed for my iPad Pro and I felt for what I got, it was a great price. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, that pencil and that Smart Keyboard though certainly don't come for free (speaking as someone who got an iPad Pro recently). And I can't be the only one wondering why is Apple not selling a smart case anymore but merely a screen cover. When I inquired with an electronics store employee (that also sold 3rd party cases) he chuckled saying "because Apple wants you to break it and buy a new one, duh"

Other than that and the iOS limitations, the 10.5" is a pretty solid device indeed. Just not a computer replacement.

I received a pair of the Beats Solo headphones from Apple last year during their free promo. They sound great, but they were the most uncomfortable headphones I've ever owned. Ever. Perhaps their over-the-ear or in-ear gear feels better, but their on-ear (the Solo series) are awful unless you have a tiny head.

Trying to sell Beats headphones on Craigslist or eBay now is nearly pointless, since so many people who get them with Apple gear end up putting them up for sale at the same time. They're no longer a "status item" like they were before Apple bought them, and everyone knows they're overpriced and offer mediocre sound. They just don't fetch the price they used to.

It seems like you may even be able to make a profit this way! However, is there actually a great market for Beats headphones? It seems word did get around they're OK, but not that great.
