"Oooh look another subscription! I'll have me some of that!"...said nobody, ever.

C'mon I thought us paying £32.95 (UK) for Apple One got us all inclusive.
I agree. My son would love this but already paying $42.95 AUD for Premier One in Australia and the MLS addon is $19.99 sick of getting robbed on subscriptions in Australia. Even Disney+ is $139.99 over here now.

It’s pretty rich hearing Apple fanboys (of which I am one) grumble about a couple dollars.
Not really considering every subscription these days is going up without offering anymore for the price rises. We will end up owning nothing in the end.

Prices increase. Welcome to the global economy. Have you looked at your grocery bill?

Wow. Swing and a miss, eh Apple? I think they’ve overestimated the US interest in soccer (does the rest of the world care about our MLS?) but I’m sure the fans are disappointed (and any overseas fans who were hoping for better). Considering Peacock for $4.99 includes all the content they do AND the Premier League - I don’t see how Apple thinks they can justify $12.99 or $14.99 (or even the $79/$99) a month for this standalone sub. I figured this deal would just have MLS included in TV+ or expected maybe a slight increase in monthly membership to cover this but can’t see Apple making their money back here..
Season ticket holders get free MLS pass with Apple TV, so you can watch all the away games.

I have season tix but will probably only make half of the games. Love that I can watch without blackouts! Now if I could get SportsNet LA without cable...

God this sucks for American soccer fans. It was a bad idea to sign with Apple or anyone else who would put it behind a pay wall in the first place, but this price is going to make it really unavailable. It's going to set the sport back years.

Forgive me if I've missed it, but has there been any mention of resolution for the streams? I got spoiled watching the World Cup in 4K, so it would be incredible if they're doing that. They're pretty much the pinnacle of visual quality among the streaming services from what I can tell, so hopefully they're carrying that over to sports.

Either way, I'm thrilled about this! Juggling how I was going to watch certain games last year was exhausting. Knowing for certain that I can watch every single match is a huge relief.

MLS was already behind the ESPN+ paywall with blackouts. When you break this down, if you pay the yearly fee of $99, it is less than $3 per game. And when you add in that we also get the MLS cup and the Leagues Cup the cost per game goes down even lower. How is this a terrible price?

Because most games were available to the normal fan with basic cable last year, and now they're not. This will be worth it for me, but it's a total disaster for the sport. Young kids won't have access unless their parents are already fans. If I'm over at my buddy's house, I won't be able to flip on the game casually and watch it with him. It kills the growth by limiting access.

6 games a week are free. There's more free games through Apple than were ever available in previous years.

Last year, I could watch most (might've been all, but I am not sure) Union game in the Philadelphia area on basic cable or over the air. Now I can watch zero through that method.

The casual/potential fan now needs Apple TV to see anything. It is now more difficult for the casual fan (who is generally going to be interested in watching their home team) to watch the league.

Yes the Union were one of the only teams in the country that were available over the air. You are unlucky. Everyone else is benefitting.

Generally the games were not available via cable/OTA in my area. Some LAFC games were available OTA on a local station, but not all of them. I didn't get to watch any LA Galaxy games at all last year.

That's simply not true (assuming you're in the LA area). The majority of LA Galaxy last year were available on Spectrum Sportsnet last year.

The majority of LAFC games were available OTA on KCOP 13. Most of the rest were available as a national feed (ESPN or FS1, both on cable). There were a few that were behind ESPN's paywall or only broadcast on Spanish language channels (not sure if you could change the language to present it in English), but that was the exception not the rule.

Last year, both teams had the majority of their games on cable/OTA. Both of these teams will now have zero games OTA or on cable.
