It's hard for me to be creative or productive using a damn laptop. I use one just for presentations and that's it. For media consumption I am ok with a tablet or a device under my TV. For anything else I prefer a desktop/workstation. With separate screen(s), sorry Apple.

What’s a Mac?

This needs to be upvoted into the stratosphere.

Apple sells obsolete technology with crappy keyboards.

This is the state of the Mac.

  • iMac Pro: 182 days ago
  • iMac: 374 days ago
  • MacBook: 374 days ago
  • MacBook Air: 374 days ago
  • MacBook Pro: 374 days ago
  • Mac Pro: 436 days ago
  • Mac Mini: 1337 days ago
And most of those “updates” were inconsequential bumps. Is it even ethical to be selling the Mac mini at this point?

Design decisions, e.g. 1 USB’s c port which is required for power, The ill-conceived touch bar, mindlessly making everything thinner over functionality, and again, those train wreck keyboards, etc., make the current line up worse than what they offered 3 years ago.

No amount of marketing or slick videos is going to fix how bad the hardware situation is, nor will it cover up Aaple’s unwillingness to regularly update the Mac line.

Apple is causing the decay of the Mac through their lack of care, and it breaks my heart.
I entirely agree that Apple has a genuine opportunity to blow our minds when refreshing the Mac lineup by listening to their most vocal customers (i.e. those of us with history with them, and the tech/artistic communities).

After a lifetime buying macs, I feel compelled to not buy any mac next time, unless they make it worth the money I pay. It's unacceptable to have such a fragile keyboard, virtually irreparable, in a machine that costs a lot of money. Most of the guys from macrumors write from USA where macs are much cheaper than other countries, and that's even odder if you think that USA is a place where cost of living and salaries are higher. If this trend continues, outside USA one is almost forced to stop buying macs. I always would like to rember Apple that there are many guys like me who may also decide to stop buying iPhones, iPad etc if they don't use macs anymore.
In the mean time I just hope for a better mac next time...just hoping...

Well said. I'm heartbroken too. The professional Mac was such a big part of my life. It still is but my portables (those with good IO and keyboards) are aging and I don't know where I'm going from here.

I loved the mac. Back when it was a real product line. The cheesegrater days were golden. 2012 the last upgradable laptop (still my baby). The quad mac mini.

Now look at the state of the mac lineup. No glowing apple logos. Nothing upgradable. No ports.

I am literally sitting on money saved for a mac. Release something apple. Take my money.

The Grimes video is just embarrassing.
Dongles. Dongles everywhere. This is how I feel if I just want to put in a USB Stick and watch a movie on TV from it.
Dongle for USB , dongle for HDMI and because of the miserable battery life you have to plug in the charger too.
I do hope for you in this scenario you bought the TouchBar Version because of 4x USB-C. If you just have two, you are screwed.

Errr... shouldn't the advertising slogan be:

I've been left behind by my Mac

Edit....

Just seen this one has already been posted above!

I think those of us that care about quality will let them take their time in releasing it to get it right rather than release it quickly with issues to make the impatient among us happy in the short term

We're not asking for much. In my case a Mac in a neat box with lots expandability options. Doesn't have to be sexy or 'clever' - just a box. If you're out of ideas, Johnny, a cream plastic one would be OK or if you want to look a bit more fancy a sliver metal one with some holes in the front would be just fine. And, now we're asking a - how about laptop with a decent amount of ram and a user changeable hard drive?
