Apple has introduced a new single gift card in the U.S. for all things Apple. First spotted by iCulture, the card can be used at the App Store and other online services, but you can also use it to buy products and accessories in the Apple Store.

Previously, there were two separate Apple gift cards available: iTunes cards, which can be used for App Store, iTunes Store, and iCloud storage purchases; and Apple Store gift cards, used for buying goods at Apple's online and brick-and-mortar retail stores.

Apple has a dedicated page on its website explaining what the new card does and how it can be used. "Products, accessories, apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, iCloud, and more. This gift card does it all. And then some," reads the tagline.

As before, customers can decide what amount they want on the cards, which can also be used to add money directly into an Apple Account Balance for paying for things like Apple products, accessories, apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, and more.

The cards also have a new design, with colored Apple logos. There are a total of eight different designs if you request a gift card by email, and five designs for the physical version.

The webpage goes on to explain that U.S. users can continue to use their current Apple Store cards, while existing App Store and iTunes cards can now also be used in the US to purchase products from the Apple Store.

Currently Apple is only offering the new cards in the U.S., but it's likely they will make their way to other countries in the near future.

Do they still sell these at the Apple Stores? Last time i went to the apple store i just wanted to buy a gift card but couldnt find it anywhere and since the stupid store does not have a proper check out like any other store i could not be bothered chasing down a free "genius" only to be pushed from person to person like some chicken without its head

Definitely means no more 20% discounted iTunes gift cards, RIP in peace - it was great while it lasted. Makes me feel a bit better about switching to Verizon Unlimited for Apple Music, saves a few bucks a month.

Make sure to add the maximum credit anytime they do one of their hidden iTunes balance "Add Funds" promos, though those might end too.

Are you sure? I don't think they will allow you to use your existing iTunes cards on hardware as they were often discounted at stores like Costco.

In fact, it claims you can use your iTunes ("Apple Account"?) balance to buy Apple products now? That seems like even bigger news than new gift cards if accurate.

When iTunes cards go on sale at Costco/BestBuy/Target then who determines the discount percentage? Does Apple need to approve it or is that a retailers loss.

Just curious because I buy 15-20% off iTunes Gift Cards whenever they come around and I’m curious if thats going to go away.

I am in the boat of most likely discounts are gone, but I am not 100% convinced. It all depends on who's pocket that discount was coming out of. For example if Dollar General had a $50 for $40, that discount may be coming out of their pocket to get you in the door to buy other things. We may still see discounts potentially, but I agree the most likely scenario is we won't.

This is cool if you have a bunch of iTunes cards you bought for a discount that you want to use on hardware. But not so much if you have been using discounted cards to buy apps, music, subscriptions, etc. This is likely actually a stealth increase in prices on the latter. Apple previously gave up part of the cost of the cards and could afford to do so because they take a 30% commission from the iTunes and App Stores. They are maybe anticipating needing to lower that commission so they may have been planning to eliminate the discounts on iTunes cards anyway. And if they do that, they may as well unify the gift card offering.

And just checked and see iTunes gift cards are already no longer for sale on Costco.com.
