Command l never didn't work for me.

Oh really? Because Cmd-L is meant to show you the current playing track IN THE CONTEXT of WHERE it is playing: I.e. if you started playing it from a playlist it should show it IN THAT PLAYLIST. Right now it is taking me to "My Music" instead. This is completely broken behaviour.

At least now it seems to remember that I want the bloody song list instead of album view in "My Music", yet it still goes to "My Music" even though I closed it in Playlists view. BROKEN. BROKEN. BROKEN!

Seriously Apple, just accept that I will never ever want to see the "My Music" tab as I spend my entire life in the Playlist tab. Just remember WHERE I was and take me back there, wether that was a playlist, a store view or a movie listing. iTunes 12 has no permanency and it is driving me up the freaking wall.

EDIT: It just magically started working again. I swear I updated earlier, but on a subsequent quit and reload it took me right back to the playlist I quit in. Then I started a song, went to a playlist, hit cmd-L and as expected it took me right back to that playlist. WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?! (Above rant still stands for previous behaviour in iTunes 12, may it never return again. No one move so we don't jinx it.)

iTunes is the biggest steaming pile ever. Thank god there are decent media players like JRiver to save the day. I do wish they just hired in someone who can make iTunes good again. Matching is an endless issue if you have anything but Apple's own AAC files in your library or anything higher bitrate. If I could change one thing about iTunes to help it would be to add a popout for more detailed progress bar during matching, and ipod or genius sync

Ah I see. I don't use playlists so I never noticed. Just though tried and it works like you say now... Glad it's working for you.

Was anyone having any airplay issues from iTunes with 12? When I was trying out the beta it kept cutting off all the time. I had no issues when using airplay from my ipad or iPhone. Even mirroring my display on AppleTV had no issues but I always had one with iTunes. Once I switched everything back to Mavericks and the older iTunes version things were fine.

Never got all the iTunes hate. Every other player I've tried is complete trash aesthetically and doesn't have a sliver of the features iTunes has. Things like choosing when certain tracks end is essential.

The thing is we all want a BETTER iTunes, but we can never agree upon just WHAT that is. Cull some features and you absolutely murder it for some.

For me, as a DJ with way over 60,000 tunes I only want it to stay as it is with its amazing library management features and just not beach ball every time I update some ID3 tags.

Your mileage may vary.

Is Cmd-L fixed? Does it remember views through restarts?

Yes, fixed. It now takes you to the current song no matter where you are in iTunes. It also seems to remember last view when quitting and restarting.

I just want a 'Next' button on the get info tab and to organise my albums in chronological order on my iphone and ipad.... Why that isn't already a feature I have no idea

This update messed up something with the Apple TV. It won't see my "Home Videos" now. It only sees my music, podcasts, and movies that I bought. Anyone else experience this or know a fix?

[EDIT]

I figured out what to do if anyone else is having the same problem. You now have to go to your home videos in iTunes and edit the videos. You go to options and then select "Movies" instead of "Home Videos". Never knew you could do that, but now I do! Hope that helps anyone that might need it.

I was one of the unlucky ones who had their phoned bricked and this still hasn't helped, I'm getting an error 3014 whenever I try and restore. It gets half way them stops and pops up with that error. DO you think Apple store will be the only thing I can do now?

They could try to restore it, although it will be back to iOS 7. However if it doesn't work and you are not under warranty don't expect anything. After all, as a developer you agree to take the risk and with it the temporary voiding of any warranties. If you are under warranty the manager might be willing to overlook that you were on iOS 8, but you aren't, they won't cover a replacement for you because an iOS beta or even 'golden master' broke your phone

What about all the people next week who will be using Mavericks to update and setup iOS 8? Yosemite won't be out for another month....

iTunes 11.4 was released yesterday. Runs on Mavericks, allows syncing with iOS 8. Supposedly. (Haven't tried it myself, but it said it does.)

No worries. iTunes for Mavericks was just updated and added the ability to sync to iOS 8.

I agree they need to use the standard mac interface but atleast they launch much faster then itunes with a 24k song library and matching. i have been sitting here for 15 min while the updating genius results progress bar goes by. why should it take that long when i updated it just a week ago. i shudder to think of how much data it consumes on my disk.

JRiver atleast has great sound quality and the ability to apply headphone crossfeed without needing to hassle with sound flower or midi properties or whatever.

Phones in DFU/Recovery no longer crash iTunes.

I thought I was the only one to find this! I picked up a second hand 3GS yesterday for 30 bucks. It was messed up from a failed jailbreak and the owner had given up on it. I knew what to do but when I connected it in DFU or recovery mode to my Yosemite Beta MacBook Pro, it crashed.

I had to download iTunes 11 and forcefully remove 12. It was messy and I had to edit my hosts file but it was restored in the end.

I was seriously reconsidering the readiness of Yosemite for public launch with such a major bug as this still present, but the fact that it was well known reassures me quite a bit.

I'm having an issues restoring from the IPSW file for iOS 8. I hold Option (alt) and click restore and it treats it like I'm not holding Option to select the IPSW file for the restore.

I updated my phone on my Mac Mini Server (10.9) because I couldn't select an IPSW file to restore from in iTunes 12 on 10.10.

Does anyone know if this feature has been moved?

Not sure I'm on my works Windows machine at the moment so can't check. But if you're eager to get the GM installed, download Xcode and use the organizer to install the IPSW instead.

Anyway you could test this for me? I could not figure out how to install the IPSW from Xcode.
