If you are concerned about privacy, Firefox and Brave are much better options as they are FOSS while you never know whats going on behind the scenes on Safari web browser.

DO NOT use Chrome + EDGE
What’s “FOSS”?

Definitely private. No tracking here. Nope.

The problem with this ad are the "real" birds at 0:27. Everyone knows birds aren't real, Apple needs to get it together.

It's not the tracking inside Safari, it's the tracking on the many websites, that Safari isn't actively blocking as f. e. uBlock origin does. The best browsers for privacy on iOS are Firefox Focus, DDG and even Brave (although based on Chromium).

I have an iPad but no other Apple computing device. ATV doesn't have a browser (but should).
Safari is useless to me. Google doesn't follow me around like Microsoft does.
I use the Chrome browser to sync bookmarks across all my devices.
It is the best for me. Been using DuckDuckGo for a long time.
Once again, Apple (the iPhone company) is assuming everyone is using an iPhone all the time.
Isn't Samsung the #1 phone company?

Cool ad from the company hat accepts $20 billion to set Google as the default search engine in its devices.

Also, on Android other browser engines are allowed, not only WebKit. You can use Firefox with uBlock Origin there. The filtering solution used in Safari is nowhere near uBlock's capabilities.
There’s a difference between being the default app and giving them data. It’s the knowing when you are being tracked that is important. It allows you to choose. Google is not my search engine.

Do I have to explain that my comment was tongue-in-cheek? I thought it was fairly obvious, but I guess not. My comment was tongue-in-cheek.

The attempt to was draw attention to the fact that Apple makes grandiose claims of protecting users' privacy, while at the same time harvesting users' data (sometimes personal, sometimes in aggregate).

This is what real privacy looks like:

Safari harvests users' data. In addition, its implementation of extensions mean that developers who write extensions for it are not able to adequately filter traffic, which leads to increased tracking from web sites and the third-parties they use (whether that be advertising or analytic companies, etc.).

What about this one? Financial Info and Location appear in both the "Data Linked to You" AND the "Data NOT Linked to You" columns???
At the end of the day, in my opinion, Apple has shown that it is absolutely no better than any other company. Whether that company is Meta, Microsoft, Alphabet, Apple, etc. All of them want and collect user data for their own purposes. Apple's privacy page makes it pretty clear they are no different.

The default policy for browser should be to delete site data on closing the last tab for a site, except for a whitelist. Safari has this for other website features (Settings, Websites), but not for the cache. On Chrome Ungoogled Chromium, there is Cookie Autodelete, which does exactly that, and it mostly works.
Yeah, but that's a customized browser, it's not a fair comparison.

I mean, as you stated, it's your opinion, but to say Apple is no better on privacy than Google or Facebook is certainly a take.

That's not to say they are necessarily good on privacy, but their business model isn't explicitly set up on sucking up as much data as possible.

Emphasis mine.

Are you sure?

Google collects as much user data as they can so they can go back to advertisers with the option of targeting any demographic. Thereby making money from the ads. To me, it seems Apple collects just as much user data so they can tailor their products and services to any demographic. Thereby making money from the sales.

Many are under the misguided notion that Google collects and sells user data. That's not true; the data is way to valuable to sell. They use the data to sell ads. Similarly, Apple uses the data to sell products and services.

One can, rightly, argue that at least the user is getting something from Apple (better products and services), and that would be a very fair point. Google also works to improve their services because the more people that use them the more ads they can shove in front of their face. So depending on user-preference, that could be a win, too, as the services end up being better in the end.

I take a cynical view (after reading both Google and Apple's privacy policies) that they're both evil and I trust neither. Nevertheless, those two plus Microsoft rule the world so it is what it is.

The Taboola thing is so bad …

Pay attention Apple fans .. this company is selling out its values right before your eyes

I’m 100% with Om here

“Apple’s decision to strike a deal with Taboola is shocking and off-brand — so much so that I have started to question the company’s long-term commitment to good customer experience, including its commitment to privacy”
