I think I have seen one official leather case in the wild since they came out.

I got one with my iPhone 6. IMO calling them 'leather' is a load of rubbish. The 'leather' (at best a reconstituted spray-on mix containing leather particles and textured to look like leather on the outside) all rubbed off the back of my plastic Apple case.

I bought a $5 case from China on ebay and have been happy since.

Only got one thing to say: I liked the silicone I got for my 6, but it wore out and rotted in 6 months. Then I got the leather. Perfect still. And I've dropped it serveral times. Never-- knock wood-- had a screen shater or left a dent of scratch anywhere. Of course, I saw a friend with that same 6 using an Apple battery case. It's a good case, and just a perfect battery too. I have not run out of battery since I got it, and I use it a lot now, because I have the capacity. Dis a spectacular drop on the bathroom tiles the other day, spinning in the air as I tried to catch it, slammed on the ground, no damage at all, even to the case. Yes, there is a little humpback on the case, but yawn, no biggie.

My brother has the saddle brown case for his iPhone 6, and it looks fantastic. As it absorbs oils from your skin and scuffs from usage, it develops a gorgeous patina. I have the black leather case for my iPhone 5/SE, and it's been remarkably durable. I'll probably get the saddle brown as well.

Why do people buy Apple's leather cases? Nomad's are much higher quality and weather so much better.
I've never heard of Nomad cases before this thread, but I've been using an Apple leather case on my iPhone 6 for about 2 years. It fits perfectly, weathers very well (even though I've never treated or conditioned the leather), and has the Apple logo. Like most other Apple products, it's well designed and well made. It fits so well, I tend to forget it's in a case. There's nothing I would want in a case that the Apple case doesn't deliver. YMMV.

Never heard of Nomad but I just looked up their website.

They look like quality products but the big sticking point is that they seem to be only available in brown and black.

Of course the other sticking point is that I'm actually shopping for an iPhone SE.

Nomad also have grey and midnight blue:
