That movie knocked my socks off. I will say, I bought my AVP used on Marketplace for $2000 (we met in front of our local Apple Store to do the exchange so I could test it). After using it a few months, for $2k, it's the right price for the product as it stands today. At $3500 plus tax? Not yet worth it for the content available.
for you

Unless more than a century of film catalogue gets converted to spatial video soon, I don't see how the slow release of not-even-movie-length content is going to take mainstream by storm.

The fact is, even at a more affordable price, people don't want to wait ages for content that Apple produces on their terms. They want to experience what they already enjoy - but in a new manner.

How can anyone possibly keep up with that constant flood of new Vision Pro content?
I can manage
Personally, I have no doubts Apple Vision Pro is awesome for 3D content.
My question is: why the hell didn't Apple make hundreds of movies, tv shows, and AAA games available for it when they launched it???!!!
Did you see the ad of making submerged? They are just inventing the gear and story telling that's necessary for this format. I am not surprised that they have to do everything from scratch. Backmagic does a new double 8 k camera for that purpose and dollies and cranes have to be adapted to the 180 ° filming method.
With respect to hundred of films I can only pinpoint to Apple TV+ - they started with a few films and everyone is top notch in it's genre - just growing over time
Games are not the goal of Apple and I can understand that - not my cup of tea.

Not to mention apps!
Almost every ever build iPad APP runs - not that hard to get usage of the AVP with respect to APPs
I mean, I understand if not many third-party devs won't want to invest at first, but why Apple hasn't rethought all its apps from the ground up to take advantage of the Apple Vision Pro... this astonishes me....
People demand macOS on the iPad and iPad APPs on Apple TV and more films on Apple TV+ and finally you demanding 100ds of films in the beginning? How should Apple manage to film these things without a platform to view the films?

Leica invented 35 mm film camera - much later many people had a 35 mm film cameras and slide projectors and so on - it takes time to build those things - not not mention financial resources too.

Nah, you gotta see this thing. Miles and miles ahead of anything (video or app) that has been released for the device to date.
That's the issue. On a purely technical level, this will undoubtedly impress users. But is the story, production value, script, acting, cast going to hold-up and make this something that you'll want to rewatch over and over? Or is it a tech demo?

The rig (and content) should have been ready for the launch of the product. The point at which the product was newsworthy and had a public buzz.

And the gear is 'necessary' for this story telling? That doesn't give me much hope that said content is going to be diverse when the story has to be written around maximising spatial effect.

you mean like streets for cars after Gottlieb Daimlers invention or space stations in parallel to Sputnik or Internet parallel to computers ...
Yes - that's the normal progression of things ;)

Of course only newsworthy things will have a place in some people's minds - I am not one of them though

You mean like migrating from campfire stories to Shakespeare in theaters? It probably gave many people some headaches to understand the setup and the limited space to tell the story opposite to a campfire story teller before with literally unlimited space.
Yes - new formats needs retaining sometimes and I personally judge the result after a few years.

Luckily theaters did not stop at the greeks and romans and they continued a few thousand years toll today with amazing results.
Today however everybody expects results before artists have made their clue on how to use media.
Best would be to do nothing too experimental to not distract people from their known turf.

You are one individual, are you not?

You mean like migrating from campfire stories to Shakespeare in theaters?
Yes, because as we all know this occurred over the span of, what, 3 years?

Today however everybody expects results before artists have made their clue on how to use media.

I agree, but this still doesn't justify the product's price tag - hence why a breadth of content should have been available from the very beginning to retain interest in the product.

It is my thought that eventually they are selling the equivalent of tickets to live games for this. They park their cameras (static) center court on the side, or a few other random places and you buy the pass the same way that you purchase a ticket and experience the game as if you were there.

Wow this is crazy !!!
fully agreed - just watched the film and it is almost too intense to watch - they squeezed the story of Das Boot into a short story but the scenes are so believable and real that I almost stopped to breath.

Very nice - like all immersive stories they've told in their short filmt up to now.

I’m not sure if Apple does this already, but they would do themselves great justice by making Everything on Apple TV+ Vision Pro compatible. Did a 3 month trial & am still paying for ATV+ 6 months later.

There is always something good on this streaming channel. Not that it would compel me to buy an AVP, but at least it would be a step in the right direction. There you go Apple with your pro tip of the day.

Honestly, I've used a lot of VR Headset and the Vision Pro is the best headset I've ever used. I watched Submerged and while technically it's miles ahead of anything else I've seen, it's a simple story with decent acting. Not a bad start. I hope they make more of these.

I know the price tag on the Vision Pro is very steep, but I'll be damned if I regret getting one. Its pretty damn good and much better than the Quest 3, Bigscreen Beyond and all the others who try to compete with it.
