Who is leasing a brand new colour in six months into product cycle I was never done this before not to an existing spec iPhone not ever this makes no sense

AT&T is selling iPhone XR for $16/month. A lot of people buy phones a year or three into the cycle.

iPhone 8 got red in April 2018 to boost sales.

It makes plenty of sense if you study the history.

That is not the statement you made in the one I’m challenging. The statement you made is Apple has released a colour midcycle spec for spec was implied for an iPhone it never did.

this is an about whether or not people via phone a year or two later in the cycle that’s been happening since time again that’s not the topic nor the statement you made

iPhone 8 got red in April 2018 to boost sales. Not sure this was in the same product year or not. Product(Red) is a philanthropic choice. I’ll omit Product(red) releases but I’ll grant you a sort of win on that.

iPhone 7 32GB got Jet Black a year later even though at launch it was limited to 128/256GB models. It also got red color and wasn’t advertised as Product Red in China.

Apple didn’t even say how much they were donating per device, so I’ll leave you to guess if it really was a philanthropist action. They just happened to become philanthropist mid-cycle? Same with iPhone 8. It just happened to be mid-cycle?

This color is pretty. But it does seem unfair if people picked up the 12 and now love this color. Ahhh...

This idea really has to go away, because it will not be done in the coming years.

As long as phones need cases to be protected adequately against drops, this is absolutely NOT a good idea. Most cases cover the power button.
Have you not heard of cases with a cut-out for buttons? Some case makers have been making them like this for years.

So, the latest color of my phone to be hidden by its case is purple? Honestly, I really don't know what the point of colored phones are. It would be neat to have colors if phones were drop proof as is without a case. However, as long as the entire exterior of my phone is covered in a case what's the point? I know, I know. Clear cases. I know very few people with clear cases and even then, whether your phone is purple in a clear case or some other color in a purple case does it matter? Anyway. I ramble. Point being... phone colors are pointless.

Lots of people I know have clear cases.

If it were pointless manufacturers wouldn't offer them.

I do hear you on the practicality of keeping your phone in a case, though.
