While encouraging employees to exercise is a good idea - it shows favoritism to able bodied employees. What do you do if you are in a wheelchair? So the fitness guys will have fancy watchbands and can say to others "You should exercise".

Not to mention do any Apple employees have time for the fitness work? I always heard they were so pressed that they barely had time to go to the bathroom.

There’s a wheelchair mode for the Apple Watch...

Well that'd go with my Mork from Ork suspenders...

I will close my 1,000 day Move ring at the end of this week. Come on Apple, I deserve something too :D
Does that mean you did not get out of your own time zone for almost 3 years?
The Apple Watch is still incapable of handling time zones when traveling overseas.

Well, I think it’s pretty cool that they do this for their employees. Use the watch they make to encourage healthy behavior and earn prizes. Not a bad thing at all. And maybe after they unclog the arteries going to their brains, they’ll be able to fix iOS 11 (which crashed on my iPhone X today).

I like your outlook here. I think this is a beneficial idea for a company to invest with the employee that they want encourage physical fitness and over all health. A lot of companies don't take the time to instill healthy behavior with in a company.

I don't see a problem with it. Employees don't have to take part, and in the end they are only doing what they normally , but they get aa reward for doing a little bit extra. I have done 2 of these challenges and not only got a t-shirt, but also a useful cool bag. YMMV, but I like to get something on top for free.

Pity it's employee-only, not customers.

I "closed the rings" every single day of 2017. Got 52 virtual Perfect Week achievements, but nothing for the year.

Me too. I expected a badge, but it doesn't exist. My next one will be 500 movement goal.

Agree, this is very ableist. How about those, who can't afford Apple Watch? Of those without wrists?

Wow - these comments are so depressing.

How did so many people wake up on the wrong side of bed this morning?

Cheer up you miserable sods!

Mhm, a lot of these commenters think, that as this is Apple, the richest company in the world, the biggest brand on the planet, they HAVE TO give free stuff for their employees( for being able to exist I guess), and this stuff can't be small, nice presents, it has to be worth THOUSANDS!! BECAUSE ITS APPLE!!
This is just some whatever random activity for their staff to "voluntarily" (I guarantee there is some pressure, like "we have to be better than that shop" or "we cant be last in this district" ) participate, if they want, and get some small, memorable prizes, if the end on top of the list at the end.

That is false assumption. I travel a bit and just got back from Europe (going to Paris next month). There are things you can do to complete the move goal every day (if your flight is early, exercise before the flight, etc). The stand ring can be messed up based on time zone difference.

Steve was changing the world with Apple

today at Apple employees are forced to play idiotic games all day

Well, I am going to travel from Toronto to Hong Kong soon, and there is simply no way to fix the time zone difference along with the 16 hour flight!

Article title should read:

"Multi multi multi billion dollar company offers $2.86 prize for being the healthiest employee"
What do you want them to do? Give $1 million to each one of their employees? Or even customers too?
