While encouraging employees to exercise is a good idea - it shows favoritism to able bodied employees. What do you do if you are in a wheelchair? So the fitness guys will have fancy watchbands and can say to others "You should exercise".

Agree, this is very ableist. How about those, who can't afford Apple Watch? Of those without wrists?
all employees, new and old, are given an opportunity to buy any watch combination at 50% off with the exception of the watch edition

Well, so far they aren't that high. They are ranging "normal" Apple band prices. ($149-$200). Way less than the Hermes. But that's to be expected, since they aren't available to the general public. They are very nice looking, in my opinion.
