I hope the "Apple's business is selling hardware, it’s not like Google that sells your data" crowd, to finally shut it.

Well, that has been me for many years, and it was a perfectly reasonable argument — so telling us to ’shut it’ is just a little bit rude. 😜 Nevertheless, I do agree with you — this takes away that argument and leaves me with nothing much to say, other than Apple’s hardware is good but typically overpriced.

Apple is shooting themselves in the foot here.

You would use Apple because you didn't need to deal with adverts, but now there is now advantage of using Apple Maps. I have found myself using Google maps more and more because it's good, so if you have to deal with ads in both Apple and Google you might as well use the better mapping information. You can step away from ads by using TomTom free app.

So what will happen to 1Blocker, my favourite app? Will it remove the Ads from Maps or will it get removed itself by Apple?

Over half the time, Maps doesn't even show me the names of the roads I'm looking at. Zoom in, zoom out, pan around … no name, and sometimes no route number either (when there should be one). And as others have noted, lots of businesses and points of interest are missing. They should be thinking about fixing those things, not thinking about something that's so stupid you can't even fathom the pointy-hairness of the person making the decision.
Same as send my location, it shows everything around except the name of the place where you are!

Sod 'em. I don't use Apple Maps any more. Have entirely moved to Organic Maps as it actually works properly offline and I use Tripadvisor for local recommendations.

Can't get Apple Intelligence right, so let's do ads instead.
Apple’s various departments competing with each other in a race to make Tim and Apple shareholders smile. I predict a new, cheaper Apple TV plan with ads by the end of the year after another price increase for the plan with no ads.

I hope Apple doesn’t go down a ad-driven slippery slope with other Apple services. Pop-up ads on your new Mac? Apple TV with ads plan? Ads in safari?

Tried Apple maps multiple times over the years and every time I went back to Google maps. Twice Apple maps sent me down paths that were clearly under construction for a good amount of time (weeks) while in towns I was visiting.

So much of Apple software is just "OK" or worse. I use zero Apple software on my Apple devices outside of the OS.

That’s it, I have switched over to OsmAnd Maps. I am also testing GraphineOS on a google Pixel. I am a long time Apple fanboy, and they are pushing me away. En”crap”afacation spreads to Apple.

Remember when Steve Jobs thought providing customers with value was important rather than wringing every last cent out of us?

Thanks, Apple!

Slow down webpage rendering so you can make more money.

Why doesn't the customer get a share of the profits? It's our hardware that's doing the heavy lifting.

CoMaps. Moved there already. Cross-platform. Community based. Donate if you can and add info, too.

I wish to thank Tim Apple for making me switch back to Waze because I would NOT have spotted those hidden motorcycle cops this morning without the warning from the app.
