Apple Leaks M4 Max Chip Icon Ahead of Announcing New MacBook Pros

Development progress is going fast, your machine is still running, I don't see any problem.

Before today I had no idea an M4 Max was coming. Next you're going to tell me Apple will introduce an iPhone 17 in 2025.

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA Apple today leaked a logo of the all-new M4 Max Chip powered by a picture, and redesigned around an image of an Apple silicon logo to pack an incredible amount of pixels into an even smaller logo of just 5 by 5 centimeters. With M4 Max Logo, the logo renders up to 1.8x faster over the M1 logo. With M4 Max logo, it takes the advanced logo of the M4 and scales it up to tackle even more demanding monitors.

The real question for the M4 MacBook Pro and Air is: Will the base M4 Chip support 2 external displays without the closed lid workaround?

I’m really enjoying Apple’s recent messiness. The product announcements have been solid and the leaks have been fun.

I splashed out on the M2 Ultra Mac Studio when it came out and was really happy with it. I kept my M1 Pro MBP on so I still had something portable.
Then the M3 Max MacBook Pros came out (this time last year) and, for most workloads, it was approximately the same performance as the Studio! I sold the Studio and bought the MBP. Of course, famously, there is no M3-series Studio, so I'm still sitting here with (until tomorrow) effectively the top performing machine in the entire Mac line-up a year on. There wasn't a big difference in price, either - so the only real difference is that, when I travel, I have my high-performance machine with me when I travel instead of the M1 Pro based machine (which is still a great machine, but I do tend to do audio and video rendering, compiling C++ codebases, and even the odd ML workload - so I notice the difference).

Everyone is different. I made the right choice for me. Given you said you're "paralyzed" my recommendation would be to go with the new MBP and don't look back. But if you really don't want a laptop form factor, well then you have your answer anyway.

Rumor has it they might follow that with an iPhone 18, perhaps as soon as a year after the iPhone 17 is released. I hope nobody leaks a picture of the words "iPhone 18", it would completely tank the stock...

Doesn't the fact the alleged Russia leaked M4 Macbook Pro spec sticker refers to the device having Thunderbolt 4 debunk that "leak"? Based on the Mac Mini announcement, it's pretty clear the M4 Macbook Pro will have Thunderbolt 5, which means the Russian bloggers were full of crap.

No they weren’t.

The base m4 chip still has thunderbolt 4 and that is what was leaked.
