My opinion, it is all up to you my friend.
I had midnight blue leather for my 7+ and loved it. I almost ordered again for my iPX, but brown is more “my thing,” so I went saddle brown this round.
Thing about leather cases is it changes over time. Duh!, right?
But you have to keep that in mind for whatever you select. For leather.
Black will stay black. But midnight blue becomes “more night” after a while. Still blue, but darker.
Saddle brown will eventually look like a saddle in a museum.
I can only speak for these colors because these are all I’ve experienced personally.
I’ve had various cases offering “one MILLION layers of protection” from some of the big names out there, and that’s fine if you’re clumsy. But leather protects quite well too. My 7+ had its share of “light drops” (most not exceeding 3’ in travel, and mostly onto carpet), but leather will show its scars. Fortunately, the leather seems to heal over time.
The other thing about leather is, it is a little bit more slippery at first, but with oils (from your skin) and time, this slowly changes.
I’ve included pix of my old 7+ midnight blue leather case.
Hope all this helps!
