Adds will only appear in apps that developers have specifically coded to contain them. This is not limited to free apps. There is no technical reason that a developer cannot use iAds in a paid app.

You may be able to turn off the location part by turning off location services for the app (or maybe iAds in general) but you certainly won't be able to turn off the ads altogether.
 
well, thats better than i thought it would be. I can see advertising in a free apps, and dont have a problem with that...but advertising in paid apps is kind of bogus.

Its really kind of disappointing that Apple is doing this.

The paid apps thing is like going to a movie theatre and the previews contain ads. I hope Apple does make it clear whether a paid app includes advertising or not. With movie theatres, it is pretty much accepted in the US. I hope that doesn't become the model for smart phone apps.
