Ordered my Touch on 24/09 and it apparently shipped on 29/09. Have just spoken with Apple who now say that it hasn't even reached Europe yet.

Check the Apple website. What is the 'delivery due by' date?

I do have to sympathize with the OP. If there is a week-long holiday in China, surely Apple could have made other arrangements for a shipment to come out of the country. It's possible Chinese customs simply won't allow exports during this holiday, so Apples hands would be tied. Just unfortunate I suppose.

If it helps, keep in mind the rest of us ordered our iPod touches on September 5th and only received them a few days ago, so we waited a month.

Both methods quite clearly would be overkill for the package size. Raccoons, or even squirrels, would be ideally suited for both speed and accuracy. They do have a keen geographic memory.

This one is funny. :D

Either way.... take it easy and stop trying to cause trouble, it makes it harder when Apple actually does something wrong to blame them and get repercussions for it. I ordered a 24" iMac from a 3rd party dealer and it hasn't even shipped yet... ordered it almost three weeks ago. It will get here when it gets here.

In the US we don't whine when things don't get here and when things don't get here when they are supposed to we don't kill the company that owns the product we kill the shipping company. You have to know when and where to pick your battles, otherwise you will be shouting, kicking, and screaming for nothing.

Sorry, but I have to side with the thread poster here. Lie? No, that's an overstatement.

But, Apple IS responsible for such slow delivery.

Shipper isn't prompt? Don't use them.

Shipper is in a country that takes week long breaks? Don't manufacture in that country.

Take over two weeks to get a product into a customers hands? Expect an unhappy customer that may put his money elsewhere next time.

No they aren't, if the product never makes it to him then it would be the shippers fault. The reasons you give are too simple, this is the real world were money is king, no reason.

It is simple. The customer didn't pick the shipper the manufacturer did.

If the product shows up with nothing but a case and no electronics, I supposed that's the shippers fault as well. Or maybe it's the factory subcontracted to build the product? Well, I guess we just have to find that one Chinese guy that actually put it in the box to blame huh?

It's clearly Apple's responsibility to provide shipping choices to the customer that will meet their expectations. Now if the customer was told it would take 3 months, or was given multiple shipping options and chose poorly, then it would not be Apple's responsibility.

IT IS A NATIONAL FREAKIN HOLIDAY IN A COMMUNIST COUNTRY. NO ONE IS WORKING ESPECIALLY THE GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!

Do you honestly think that US customs is working on Christmas here? Come on get real here. Sometimes there are no other options other than to wait. Besides, even IF Apple could have done something, it most certainly would have cost them more money. Why would they do this just so that some whiners can get their precious ipods a couple of days earlier.

There are other places in the world to build things. If you know a week holiday is coming up ship early enough to avoid it. Warn customers of the delay, etc, etc..

Yes, stuff happens. But don't expect people to not get peeved if it takes more than two weeks to get something they've already paid for. They will get peeved. If you don't want them upset, find a way around the delays.

Apple doesn't bill their customer until the item ships so nothing is paid for.

You have a very simplistic view of how big business works. You just don't pick up the phone and change shipping schedules or choose other places to build your products.

That being said, it sucks when you're waiting for something and the estimated date comes and goes. Such is life, get used to it.

But according to Apple the items was shipped. Remember? Now it's the shippers fault. The customer DID pay already.

No, you have a very apologetic view of how big business works. Can they fix it now? Of course not. Should they have planned better to avoid it? Of course. Should this customer be upset because of their bad planning? Of course.

True, however, I wish for myself to have nothing but customers as "understanding" as you when I screw up. It's the mailman's fault. Yeah, that's it. Not my fault. :p

How did they ship it? By donkey?

My experience with Apple is that their chosen couriers use snails. Two to four weeks after dispatch is not uncommon. Which is why I don't buy from the on-line store anymore. Thankfully they just opened a store in Glasgow.

I really don't know where the problem is, mine was shipped on Oct 1 (Mon), and reached my desk in Germany Friday morning. It travelled flippin' 6000 miles, and was routed through 2 large hubs, so I don't think 4 days is particular bad for that distance. And so much for "Apple selects snail couriers"...

Ordered mine September 10th (9/10) got it October 1st (10/1)

It said shipped on September 25 (9/25)

Many peole ordered theres after me and got them before me.
