An Apple employee has lost a prototype iPhone at a bar, again. The iPhone was lost in late July at Cava 22, a Mexican restaurant and bar in San Francisco's Mission District, according to CNET:
A day or two after the phone was lost at San Francisco's Cava 22, which describes itself as a "tequila lounge" that also serves lime-marinated shrimp ceviche, Apple representatives contacted San Francisco police, saying the device was priceless and the company was desperate to secure its safe return, the source said. Still unclear are details about the device, what version of the iOS operating system it was running, and what it looks like.

Apple electronically traced the phone to a two-floor, single-family home in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood, according to the source.

When San Francisco police and Apple's investigators visited the house, they spoke with a man in his twenties who acknowledged being at Cava 22 on the night the device went missing. But he denied knowing anything about the phone. The man gave police permission to search the house, and they found nothing, the source said.
There is no word if Apple ever got the phone back. A spokesperson for the San Francisco Police Department told CNET that Apple did not file a police report about the missing phone.

Readers will remember that last year Apple lost an early prototype of the iPhone 4 at another San Francisco bar. That device was picked up by another customer and sold to tech site Gizmodo.

CNets article reads like a paid endorsement by Cava 22 more than a story about an iPhone.

Very suspicious, zero evidence, lots of talk about "lime marinaded shrimp ceviche" suuuuuuuure...

Red October

Makes me think of the Hunt for the Red October when the Russian diplomat goes to visit his American counterpart.

"You lost another one????"

No pics = it didn't happen :p But seriously, I wonder what iPhone prototype it could've been, iPhone "4S" or an iPhone 5?

hahahahaha omg

And did we mention Cava 22? They have a great shrimp ceviche! They're located in the Mission! Here's a pic of their address, Cava 22, great tequila! Oh there's an iPhone in here somewhere too, but remember that Cava 22 is on the corner of 22nd! Cava 22, and uh... a lost iPhone!

I'm sorry but despite what you might think, Redwood City is quite dissimilar from San Francisco.

Gourmet Haus Staudt would be more accurately described as a beer garden, not a bar.

1) Hopefully that apple employee will be fired for a lack of responsibility. seriously, c'mon.

2) Hopefully it will be returned to apple for their sake.

that is all

Either Apple employs careless buffoons or this is a deliberate act to gain attention.
