Apple has lowered the price of refurbished iPad Pro models following the announcement of a new iPad Pro and entry-level iPad, giving customers who may want an older model the opportunity to purchase one at a lower price.

As spotted on Twitter, Apple has lowered the price of the 2018 11-inch iPad Pro in 64GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations. The 64GB refurbished model now costs $469, 256GB for $539, 512GB for $689, and 1TB for $849. The 2018 iPad Pro includes a full-screen design, a single camera, and the A12X Bionic chip, and is one of several iPad models Apple offers on its refurbished store.

Yesterday, Apple announced an updated iPad Pro that's now powered by the M2 Apple silicon chip, offering performance improvements compared to the M1 chip in last year's model. The new iPad Pro features the same display and camera hardware as the previous generation. Apple also announced the 10th-generation entry-level iPad with a new design, USB-C, and support for only the first-generation Apple Pencil.

The refurb 2020 iPad Pros also came down in price - an A$130 drop for the 11” 128GB version down here.

Not news. This happens with every new product launch, unless there is no direct replacement product.

Is this worth it? I need a new tablet but is buying an old tablet from 2019 worth it or shall I just spend more on a newer one?

4th Gen 12.9" 128GB WiFi on the UK Refurb store showing as £579, albeit out of stock at the moment. Seems good value when you consider the latest M2 brand new is £670 more expensive.

Hopefully the M1 12.9 comes to the refurb store in the next few months as I regret getting the 11" one now and will sell that and put the difference towards as 12.9 M1 Refurb.

2020 iPad is the one to go for budget. 6GB ram is plenty future resistant.
The 2018 with 4GB ram is not a superb experience is all. I have one ☺️

Here's hoping they appear on refurb store. I wonder how they will price them to not impact M2 sales?

The refurbed 64GB 11" iPad Pro from 2018 is a much better buy than the iPad 10. You'll get nearly identical performance, but much better display with ProMotion, much better speakers, Apple Pencil 2 support.

Depends on what you plan to do with it. I prefer the larger display as mine is used nearly only for media consumption/movies. But, I think one of the 2020 iPad Pro models would be a great deal if you aren't using for serious tasks, but even then, there's nothing the A12X/A12Z can't handle with ease still.

I’m the same just media consumption and some browsing and note taking.

I won’t be using it for any pro tasks at all.

This is definitely the one to get. If you need an iPad, you should jump on these right now.

The A12Z that powers these 2018 Pros is still really fast. I have two of them and have never felt the need to upgrade to M1 or M2. These are probably a better choice than than the new base and Air iPads for many.

ProMotion and Gen 2 Apple Pencil support beats out these newer devices in my opinion.

I just bought a new 12.9” 5th gen Pro for £850. The same spec for an M2 from Apple is £1350. They’ve lost the plot entirely. Electronics sales are going to plummet everywhere outside of California.
