11.8 seconds on my Mac Pro 2.66 with 3GB of RAM with Mail, Safari, iTunes, and Azureus running in the background.

Mac Pro Dual Quad Core 3.0 Ghz
x1900xt
9GB ram
2 - 500 GB Apple stock hard drives
OS - Bootcamp running XP64
Photoshop CS3

4 seconds 🙂

Pentium 4 2.8 ghz
2 Gigs RAM
CS2

1:43

I'll come back when my Mac Pro Arrives and see how it compares. I was really expecting it to take longer than 1:43, I've read alot of the posts in this thread and some of the G5's weren't going that fast.

Mac Pro 2.66ghz Dual Core x 2
5 gigs ram

I can't tell exactly since my stopwatch sucks, but I'm gonna say 9 seconds. Up from 1:43, that's pretty darn impressive.

anybody try this with the new 2.4 mbp or new iMacs yet?

On a 2.2 MBP 2G RAM with CS plus Azureus, InDesign, Adium, Word and Mail running.

20 secs.

I'll test this one out again now that I have 4G RAM and see if it makes a difference.

it is pretty mind blowing when you see the old macs - especially the powerpc early models times versus what we have now

personally , i love seeing the amazing comparisons

it shows how lucky we all really are

arguing over a videocard upgrade when 10 years ago , pro's would have killed for the stuff we can buy for peanuts ( relatively ) !!

🙂

Ran the test on my work G5 Dual 2.0 (NOT dual core), 2.5 GB RAM, stock 160 GB HD and stock nVidia 64 MB vid card, 10.4.10, PS CS3, only iChat and Suitcase Fusion open:

55 seconds

thanks GraphicUmp

My MBP 2.4 2Gb RAM 7200 rpm disk
running PS CS3 and quicksilver in the background
did this in 26:44

I'm happy. 😀

Seemed like something fun to test.

Specs:
Photoshop CS3
MP Dual 2.66
8GB RAM
WD RAPTOR 150GB 10K RPM
X1900XT VIDEO CARD

About 12 Seconds

Glad I found this old thread! Ok, new machine, new software...

Alu iMac 24" 2.4GHz C2D, 2GB ram, running Adobe CS3 Master Premium:

27 seconds flat. Not bad I suppose for a stock iMac processor. I had other programs running however, and not a fresh start.

Specs:
Photoshop CS2
G4 533Mhz Powermac
896Mb RAM

About 10 Mins 51 Seconds

Did it again with other programs off.

8 Mins 6 Seconds

Still fairly crappy!

I ran the test on my MacPro 2.66 and my old G4 500 Tibook.

For the MacPro I used a stopwatch. For the G4, I had to use a calendar.

MacPro: 13 seconds

G4: I'll tell you when it's done...

Core2 Quad Q6600 (2.4Ghz)
Asus P5WDG2 WS Pro motherboard with 4Gigs DDR2-533
Nvidia 7950GT 512MB
73GB 15K SCSI boot drive, 36GB 15K SCSI scratch/temp
Adaptec U160 SCSI controller
Vista 64bit
CS2

18 seconds

ThinkPad T40: 1.7Ghz PentiumM 2Gb Ram . . . .

2mins 01 seconds.

Stroll on getting a MacPro in the near future, if it can churn pictures at speeds like those posted, then i'll be wondering how i managed with my current setup.

just tried it.
iMac 2.8GHz
1GB ram
CS3

22.41 seconds

Awesome, those are very respectable numbers coming from a P4 3GHz which takes almost 73 seconds. (CS2 - XP)

Thanks for your benchmark. I'm looking more and more towards getting the 2.8
