I didn't expect it, but I do feel like I buy more music now that I use Spotify... I certainly never pirate anymore, and I'm much more likely to purchase songs from artists I haven't heard of before (after listening to them a while for free on Spotify, of course.)

Since I have Spotify, I rarely buy music. But when I do, I tend to get it from Amazon for two reasons:
#1 - Prices are usually better
#2 - It's convenient to use their web Cloud Player to listen to the music at my job

Amazon has made it simple enough with their downloader to import the music into iTunes.

I like the fact that every thing I have ever purchased from the iTunes store is always available to me on my iPhone, iPad and Macs. I really like when I don't even store them all any more because there are so many, I just download what I want to hear.

I like the fact that everything I have ever purchased, iTunes store or not, is available to me on my Note 2, iPad, macs, and PCs via Google Music. I really like that I don't even store them all because there are so many, I just stream what I want to hear.

Definitely a supporter in Amazon MP3s also. Keep up on their sales and you only pay $2.99 - $5 for an entire album!

It'd be interesting to see what the statistics are for Europe alone.
Me and most of the people I know my age here in England all seem to use and pay to use Spotify and have slowly let go of iTunes and/or pirating.

Whats the point if you import the music in itunes at the end ?
I buy my music on iTunes so everything is in the cloud including at work and I don't have to import anything, just stream or dl from iTunes ...

Dear Apple

Please fix iTunes Match. It works well but sometimes it has major hiccups. Then work on iRadio.

Thanks

My kids buy a lot of music and apps (I do as well!)....I usually buy $100 itunes cards when BestBuy has them on sale for $80. However, I will buy from Amazon as well if it's a better deal.

well I don't know about you guys but usually buy EDM music

Beatport has them for 1.99/1.49/2.49$
Amazon most of the time has songs for 99 cents.

Sometimes I have to wait a week or 2 but not always.

My money goes to Amazon mp3.

amazon is cheaper a lot of times
you don't need to pay extra to listen to songs in the cloud that you have bought

even books, i only buy the kindle versions

I'm one of those people that made the switch. Amazon has alot of $5 sales and they use plain old MP3 which works on any player and not just iPod.

Which player would you have that cannot handle AAC?

In the end, all my recent purchases from Amazon were matched by iTunes Match, so I got AAC format anyway. Why would I "make the switch"? I check the price on iTunes, I check the price on Amazon, often I check play.com, and whoever is cheapest on that particular item makes the sale. And with gift cards sold 20% under face value, iTunes isn't beaten on price very often.

That's the way to do it. And with iTunes Match, it doesn't matter where you buy.

That's more or less the same way I do it though I do buy a lot of older albums on CD because it's a lot cheaper.

The biggest hassle I have is being forced to run two libraries so I can use iTunes Match. I haven't got a problem with the 25,000 song limit, I just wish you could select the songs you want matching. :(

The point is that Amazon often has better prices for music than Amazon. New albums are often on sale for five bucks. So I save money...I can immediately play the music at work through my browser...and it's easy to download the music from Amazon into iTunes on my Mac.

Getting close myself... Hope Apple increases the limit some time in the next three years :D

My work doesn't allow us to play music through the browsers. No wireless either. It's easiest for me to download my music through iTunes on my iPhone.

No waits, no copying files, the music is ready to play moments after I've downloaded it. (And it's automatically on my home network, and my wife's iPhone at home without me doing anything). Very convenient. That's worth it to me vs. a small price difference.

Amazon Autorip is where it's at..
Buy CD, get MP3's free...

yes, not all artists have this yet

I buy from Amazon too. When my parents were paying for my music, it was totally fine, but now that I'm paying for my stuff, it's a huge waste of money. Especially when you can either buy a $1.29 track that will keep you entertained a few weeks and slowly get less and less usage, or a $1.99 game that will keep you entertained for months. It's the taxes that hit you the most, and money goes farther in a mobile game as they get a few updates.

A lot of other places were offering re-downloads before iCloud too, which really probably hurt them more than anything else.

To me, Amazon Autorip is why it trumps iTunes for me. Get the best of both worlds.

Also... iTunes match (right now at least) downloads the file locally to your device. I usually don't want to do this - I just want to straight stream it. Another advantage to Amazon.

One difference: It's mighty convenient to have stuff be part of your iTunes purchase history.

I love picking up an Apple device and being able to re-download something I bought on another without paying for iTunes match.

I'm not saying that's worth it to everyone, but that's one thing that keeps me coming back to the iTunes store.

Yes, still love the convenience of downloading from the iTunes store and having the purchase download to both of my iPhones and both Macs. Price has nothing to do with it.
