I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 14.2
I cannot find how to do the following:
I have the iPhone on dark mode.
When I do a search on maps and select a destination the map is light in color.
If I then exit from that and just have the map showing it is dark and very hard to see and read.
I then go into settings and change the dark mode to light and then I can see the map details.

Is there a way within maps to show the map in light details without having to go to settings and make the changes there?

Right here...
I just bumped a similar thread.

I don't have an answer as I think this cannot be done currently...but...the new dark/night mode for Maps in iOS 15 has been dramatically changed to make it more user friendly, so this should not be an issue moving forward.

I'm in my late 50s. It's an issue.

Yep...totally get it, but it has been adjusted for iOS 15...I wouldn't expect any changes until that is publicly released in Sep/Oct time frame. Or you can get on the public beta in July to use it before then.

I agree. Warning - Apple whiner here, I really like the dark mode experience on the iphone with the exception of Apple Maps because they're too dark.

The Apple map app should have the ability to override the iphone setting. IMO, Google and Waze maps appear easier to read while using iphone night time mode 24 hours a day.

It never bothered me...not that I can't see why it bothers others, but to me, I get why they did it that way. It is for routing/directions...not so you can see every street at the same level while doing that. Not saying they were right..but I get it.

Looks like they listened though and have changed it in iOS 15.
