Yes, all things require effort. Apple should be better at putting this effort into action than what we’ve seen from them in maps.

I agree that all things require effort, what I am saying is that Apple just like any other company is not a country of its own even though like some other companies its revenue far exceeds some countries GDP. Apple like other companies depends on local companies and infrastructure, cannot throw money at every problem and expecting a resolution promptly, life just not work that way for everything.
Yup, and the supply chain for the Apple Watch doesn’t just magically will itself into place because Apple has a lot of money either. Yet if they consistently shipped the watch with missing parts you’d have to scratch your head and not just blanket excuse them because supply chains take a lot of time and effort to get right

You do realize the comparison made is between hardware (AppleWatch) and software (AppleMaps), now if you made the same comparison with WatchOS and AppleMaps then it's on equal footing.

Software sees far more upgrades and updates compared to hardware, in your comparison for example AppleWatch has only recently been updated every year or so, compare that with Apple Software that sees major upgrades annually and updates every few weeks if not months.

Boy, you’re being way more accommodating than I would be. We’re not just talking about software, we’re talking about an entire global platform with 1,000’s of different rules, signage, constantly changing, controlled by 100’s of different countries and thousands of different locales…it’s a mind boggling undertaking.

Lol, yep just a tad accommodating :D Some forum members don't realize that Apple contracts local companies to drive around and so on, they think just because Apple has all the money in the world it can pull miracles out of thin air in a short period of time when compared to Google who has had a lead start for a number of years and profits from that data in other ways.

You’re missing the point. Apple being a trillion dollar company isn’t about them just being able to throw a trillion dollars at the problem. It’s about the fact that they are clearly so amazing at what they do to have built themselves up to be a trillion dollar company that it’s baffling they consistently fall behind with maps and do these clunky, half baked rollouts of features. The only thing more baffling is why the two of you seem so determined to defend them for it.

I think explaining why doing something a certain way or “correctly” in the eyes of Apple isn’t defending them or has anything to do with how much money they have.

Maps is a constantly changing application and Apple started WAY after Google. I think Apple has proven that while they may not always start as the leader in any particular category, they have a tendency to become the leader when they put their minds to it and Maps may end up that way as well.

Time will tell.

I am not sure if you understand how the Stockmarket and valuation of a company works. Define "Apple is an Amazing Company" that sounds more like opinion than anything else. Sure Apple has had a lot of hit products compared to miss' but it is by no means perfect or "amazing". I may not feel AppleMusic and AppleTV+ is worth it to me but others might, to them they opinion would differ from mine when comparing the the two services mentioned.

Defending, nope setting logic and reality inline with expectations. :)

I get that you enjoy being a pedant but this is getting weird. I expect more from a company with a proven track record like Apple. But by all means, carry on explaining your very rudimentary knowledge of how things work as if it illuminated anything, if that makes you feel better.

Apple like Google at the end of the day is run by humans and humans who create and humans who use have preferences and opinions. Maybe you dislike Apple's focus on Map or lack there of in your opinion, maybe you can do better than both Apple and Google by starting up your own company being a leader showing these BigTech companies and then get noticed and sell it for millions if not billions to them or maybe apply for a position with either company and contribute to a solution or shoot them an email or fill out a recommended features form or bug via the appropriate portal. Voicing your opinion on MacRumors forum is fine and all but do something about it as well.

I wish you all the best in whatever path you choose to find a solution to this Map-ping issue.

“Don’t share your opinion unless you’re willing to do something about it” is the lowest form of a response in a discussion — that’s why it’s called a discussion forum and not an action plan forum. Yeesh! 🙄

If you read my response it was that there is no issue discussing it, but if you feel that compelled the take action and submit a request to Apple and/or create your own product/software as per your vision.

One can complain all day, it will do nothing unless you submit a request for action to be taken.

Thanks, definitely started this discussion looking for life advice so way to come through 👍
