It's shocking how misinformed and selfish some of my fellow citizens are. Shocking.
Truly. I know they’re few and far between and troll farms are pushing fear mongering via social media but at this point if you believe in conspiracy theories over basic science it’s just plain sad. It’s not only about them, it’s about everyone else as well.

Anti-vaxxers have one point. When there is no vaccine available for a new virus. I know there are masks and washing hands and social distancing but there seems to be no medical response. What if a vaccine could not be developed fast enough or at all? Vaccine may be awesome but I don't think it is the best solution since so many people die before it is available. It is 19th century solution.

Meanwhile the EU like … what Are these vaccination sites you are talking about?

Surprisingly (at least to me) Canada is saying something similar. They handled the lockdown better than the US so I expected them to be near the top in having vaccines.

Masks have been the goto response for a very long time. After forcing doctors to look at information both washing hands and wearing face masks became standard for surgeries. But there was pushback from some doctors when masks were first being recommended in hospitals in the late 1800’s early 1900’s.

You know what, at first I thought the anti-vaxxers were crazy. But now I’m convinced. Because a very tiny number of people are getting side effects, we should stop the vaccines altogether.

And let me make another suggestion. Every year, a few hundred Americans die from plane crashes. So we should ground all flights. I know, I know, there’s nearly a billion passengers every year. But how much risk are you willing to take?

People having been wallowing in the covid/mask garbage dumpster and actually liking it, feeling empowered by their helplessness, and henpecking us normal people for an entire year now. I am over the covid hysteria. It's fake and boring.
We hear this same thing just before each new wave hits. People are selfish and easily fooled into rationalizing all types of behavior. This has all been predicted already by immunologists just so you know you're not contributing any new independent thought or actions.

I assume you realize that the vaccine “reprograms” your DNA?
Untrue.

Astra has been linked to deaths due to blood clots, Pfizer creates an immune response to asythin-1, which is used in the formation of placenta.
There is no conclusive evidence for either of those claims at this point.
All have a lower immunity rating than catching COVID which presently has a 99.7% survival rate below 70yrs of age (per Dec CDC tables)
The CDC does not have the necessary data to calculate a "survival rate". Johns Hopkins provides an observed case-fatality ratio, which is 1.8% in the US. If every American got Covid, that would mean 6 million deaths.

Besides, even if you don't die, there is a much higher probability that you will suffer long-term damage to your lungs, heart or other organs if you get a severe case of Covid. And, perhaps most importantly, you may contribute to the spread of the disease to people who may be more at risk than you are.

hmm, vaccines are not freely available yet, here in CA they're still in the 65+ group and then some ... and all by appointment only, so quite frankly not sure how useful this is
California has expanded vaccination eligibility to childcare/educators, food/agriculture, those with health risks/comorbidities, and emergency services. Depending on where you live in California, there may be even more expanded eligibility through your county measures. That's quite a bit more than "and then some". California has administered 12.6 million doses so far, we're on the right track. We've got more people here than many countries and we're still doing better.

Surprisingly (at least to me) Canada is saying something similar. They handled the lockdown better than the US so I expected them to be near the top in having vaccines.
Just because someone handled lockdown measures somewhat competently, doesn't mean that they will have handled vaccinations the same way. Canada is extremely far behind, at this point they're hoping to get the US's leftover doses.

The app just tells where the vaccines are available. It’s not forcing anyone to take them. Jeez. Make that decision in consultation with your doctor if you’re worried about potential side effects. I have concerns about which, if any of the vaccines are safe for me due to autoimmune disease and a tendency to have trouble with clots, so that’s what I’m going to do. I’m certainly not going to base such an important decision on a YouTube video or a Twitter war.

There is no need to call people names for making (hopefully informed) decisions either way, depending on their risk levels.

This fighting and name calling and dehumanizing of people instead of coming together to share information and have calm, well reasoned discussions over legitimate concerns pro and con is sinking us.

we are still not done with the 80+ people age group after 2,5 months. I live in a close to 4 million people city and we reached the milestone of 100k vaccinations the other week … like YAY

also most countries in the EU have just stopped the Astra vaccine today

I agree. The lockdown zombies are taking over this thread as well... unless they are bots from the Chinese Communist party here to spread “disinformation” or perhaps the lockdown tribalism is worse than I thought:
Nothing is being “taken over”. You are part of the minority that fabricates their own reality.
Just like someone who’s born blind, doesn't know that they’re blind until someone tells them…the dumb don’t know that they are dumb. Be best!
