Apple Maps is finally improving POI data and listening to customers

6 of the 7 errors I have reported are fixed now. 2 of them I noticed when Apple Maps first launched and I started reporting but never got fixed until a month or so ago.

The one that has yet to be fixed is a Texas Roadhouse that just opened up 4 months ago that used to be a vacant lot. Maps satellite images still show the lot, but I'll keep reporting it. Keep it up Apple.

So I've noticed that Apple has become very good at correcting POI pin location or modifying POI information when reported. However, I have yet to see Apple add any new POIs I've submitted that they didn't already have listed. The most blatant example in my home city is how both campuses of a major hospital system are missing completely. The other two hospitals in the city are clearly marked, and their whole campuses are even shaded pink in standard view. I have submitted the missing hospitals multiple times over the last several months but they still have yet to be added. I've also tried to add restaurants and gas stations, etc. that are missing, but they haven't been added either. However, Apple has corrected dozens of other existing POIs that I have reported.

Does anyone have any experience with Apple actually adding POIs that aren't in their system already?

I have, about a week ago. A friend of mine operates a B&B/restaurant, in Skamokawa WA, where my mom lives. I dropped a pin at her B&B, chose the "Information is incorrect" option from the pull-down menu, then filled in the details (easy for me since I have the B&B info in my Contacts) and chose the "Bed and Breakfast" option from the Category pull-down menu.

The business isn't shown on Apple/iOS maps, but I can search for "bed and breakfast" when Maps is showing that area and a pin is dropped at her location. It took about 4 days to show up - I suggest a search for your submission and see what pops up.

And, Apple connected her Yelp account to the pin. She's very happy and has at least one new customer who used his iPhone to find a place to stay - and I'm getting a free dinner when I get back up there (she's an awesome cook!) .
