Apple today expanded its "Look Around" feature for Apple Maps to Atlanta, Georgia, according to Apple Maps expert Justin O'Beirne. The expansion marks Apple's 14th Look Around update since the feature was released in June 2019.

Look Around was initially introduced in iOS 13, and it offers 3D street-level imagery much like Google's Street View. At launch, Look Around was limited to just a handful of cities, but Apple has been expanding it since then and it is now an option in more than 20 cities and regions worldwide.

Apple has a list of the places where Look Around is supported on its website, with availability in cities that include New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Detroit, Chicago, San Diego, Portland, Denver, Phoenix, London, Tokyo, Dublin, and more.

Apple's last Look Around update was in February, with the feature coming to San Diego and Portland.

Update: Apple has also expanded Look Around to the Sendai and Kanazawa areas in Japan.

Google Maps Street View is available in almost 100 countries. Apple s* look around only in 4 countries (basically only us has more cities).

there is no excuse that street view is older. google already had several countries 2/3 years after launch.

This is taking way too long to catch up to google street with. Just TWENTY cities WORLDWIDE??? 🤦🏻‍♂️
While I would say the overall quality is better...I fully agree that the quantity is severely lacking. I thought Canada's massive release was a sign of things to come. So far that isn't appearing to be the case.

I prefer quantity over quality in this case. I've used Street View with no problems over the years. Apple Maps maybe only slightly better.

Is it about time for a security researcher to let us know that people can find where you live using Apple Maps if you give them your address?

I KNOW right? All the other companies that have started their own mapping services have already caught up with and, in some cases SURPASSED Google. No excuse for a trillion dollar company.

Too slow. There are around 200 countries, each with many cities. At this rate of progress it still won’t be rolled out in a century.
It’s surely just a matter of deciding to give the project adequate resources.

You have to take that list of cities with a grain of salt.

For example: Boulder, CO has Look Around ... but it's not listed on their page. Denver, CO is, but that's a good 30 mins from Boulder, and Boulder is not considered a suburb of Denver.

I looked up my city (Edmonton) and it was missing on Apple’s page and was like “that’s strange, I’m sure we have that feature” then checked Maps (it does) and sure enough for many of the features — including Look Around — they simply listed “Canada” … which isn’t very helpful. Obviously not every city and town in Canada would have many of those Maps features.

But it is definitely more extensively available than it first appears loading that list.

Apple! Well at least get 3D maps in satellite view throughout the country—all we get is pancake buildings and inaccurate businesses. Or, you could just be honest and tell us we don’t matter to your deplorable deployment plans.

In between a rock and a hard place
Sometimes I wonder if people really understand why google is so strongly motivated to have the best street view and mapping coverage. And why Apple’s priority is not nearly as important.
Wait, surely you can't be implying Apple doesn't prioritize it's mapping capabilities because of some business case. You definitely can't be implying... no let me not assume anything. What exactly does your statement mean? I'm really curious to hear the meaning.
