is support for low emission zones gonna come one day? to be able to specify you have it so you don’t need to be reminded about it everyday

the detailed city experience looks neat, hoping it would come to more cities soon, especially since the lane support is still not 100% after the big map update last year

Apple Maps is clearly an afterthought for Apple. The richest company on Earth can't be bothered to update its maps or at least make a little bit functional

Yes, you are right. Just tested it in Germany. Apple Maps doesn’t seem to know all the paved tracks across the fields. So it directs you along regular streets with high traffic, between trucks and cars.

In my area, only people who are very stubborn or have a death wish take these roads by bike.

Or now people with an iPhone.
It's a mixed bag in my regional Australian city too - launched here a month ago I think?

Most of the problems look like paths are missing entirely or have incorrect metadata.

I'm glad it's finally launched here, and it does show some promise (eg. avoiding very busy roads, offering alternatives to hills), but at the same time it's not good enough for me to actually use the feature yet. Hopefully once enough people hit the "report an issue" button it will become good enough.

Not according to CBS. Car comes in first, bike second. Doesn’t change the lack of cycling directions is a huge omission for Dutch users though.
Huh, I wouldn’t have expected that. But I’m from the Randstad area so my perspective is probably skewed.

For non-Dutch people, that’s the area with the important cities including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Many of these city’s centers are mostly or completely inaccessible by car.

Even in the Randstad the situation isn't that different from the rest of the country. In Rotterdam the car comes in first (42%), public transit second (37%) and biking a very distant third (only 9%). So as far as major population centers go you're basically left with Amsterdam where cycling overtook everything else and ranks #1. Another good bet would be the medium-sized college/university cities like Utrecht, Leiden and Groningen. But that's probably it.

Anyway, this is all wildly off-topic. 😂

It's been a long time since I hopped on my bike. I used to ride to the gym and back every day when I lived closer to my gym. This is good for the cyclists in Germany for sure!

Germany has always been a hassle. People there seems to be very old fashioned. Just take a look at Google street view, even some African cities have a better coverage than Germany.
Apple Maps does have Look around or whatever it's called in Germany
