I wonder how often Apple will update already existing places? I live in an area with a fair bit of teardown / new construction, and quite a bit of their current maps are out of date.
Probably every 5-7 years given their previous track record. I notice a big difference in 2D versus 3D mode where the 3D Maps in my area are 6 years behind while 2D is far more recent. Obviously 3D and Look Around require far more (manual) processing when updating.

I saw one of these cars driving around the coast in Wellington a couple weeks ago. I was kinda surprised at how poor the typography looked on the car.

The roll out of this feature seems very glacial compared with streetview. That seems to a general problem with Apple Maps. Like Apple never seems to resource it enough. Globally or go home.
You just know the follow up updating will be even more glacial.

Very true. Apple seems to often forget it’s a global company. And you can be sure if your country isn’t added in the first few years, you can wait forever.
