I think it's amusing how every time there is a story about Apple Maps on MR that requires illustrating something with a map, it's done on Google Maps. Speaks volumes about the accessibility of Apple's Maps product.

Yeah! What's with that Macrumors?!?!

Can you embed an interactive map into a web page using an on-line version of Apple Maps?

Good to see more competition for Google, but if they have a bolt-on kit that can do this, I don't see why it's worth going to the trouble and expense of operating their own fleet of vehicles to cover every road in the country. Just higher the Post Office to bolt the data collecting kit onto their mail trucks. They already drive to every address every day. They could even keep going after the initial round of collection to keep it all up to date. Just send a collection kit to each post office and let them rotate it through their fleet of trucks. They'd be done in no time.

Just spotted one in Seattle, WA while on the way to a Sounders game!

It sped past us too fast for me to get a pic, but today headed south on 75/40 through Knoxville I saw a white Caravan with an unusual roof rack. It looked like what would be the mounting structure for the white shroud/housing. It was white, and had angled ends with roughly 1.5"x5" black cylinders, which looked like rubber mounts. Could have been headed to Atlanta I suppose, but why wouldn't they just rent the van in ATL? Could have been just a coincidence. So, nothing of substance to report I guess.

Saw this car yesterday in Red Bank, NJ. It was rolling through a parking lot when I snapped this photo. I went to get coffee and when I got back it was parked, taking a break, I suppose. Two people were inside, but it went by too quickly for me to notice anything else.

If apple maps enabled a way to single finger zoom the way google maps does (double tap & slide)...then I would give it a chance. Till then, it's way too cumbersome!

And while they are at it: make it harder to change the orientation from north up! (so annoying <- on google too!)

I saw one of those Google Street View copy cat vehicles in my hood today. It's a black van with white instrumentation on the roof.

White vehicle spotted in Mokena, IL (southwest suburb of Chicago, IL)around 4 PM Central time, at 9400 west 191st Street, facing south on Henry Drive (9400 west).

This is not a rumor - I personally saw a vehicle cross over the Golden Gate Bridge on July 5th, 2015 with "Apple Maps" on the side and a dome on top with cameras.

Once they update, I can finally drop Google Maps for good.

Those vehicles back in 2015 weren't taking Street View footage.
