I use Apple Maps for car/walking directions and ETAs as it’s the most handy, and generally works great. But I still use Google maps on my desktop (usually even my MacBook) because that has StreetView which is often crucial. Apple Maps is also terrible for nearby businesses info, has a fraction of Google’s info. Both issues will depend on your location though (I’m in Scotland)

Google Maps in every conceivable way. Apple Maps has improved since that abject coward Tim Cook decided to throw Forstall under the bus but it still lags far behind Google Maps.

Still Yelp reviews, lolololol

Else better, but navigation is still more reliable with google maps. Apple Maps routed my car over an alpine mountain trail, google maps on the road.

Still Google for me

I use Apple Maps from time to time to "check" and it just doesn't jive with me for some reason

I also have now decades of saved/starred/loved locations from endless trips
It's almost like a journal seeing all that info and I wouldn't want to not have that

Why are you comparing the second and third best maps and not even mentioning the best one? WAZE by a country mile! If I have to, then I will use Google (mainly when walking)....never Apple.
Probably the same reason why tedious Spotify v Apple stories are re-cycled but no mention is ever made of Deezer, which in my opinion is streets ahead of either Spotify or AM. Waze, Deezer are not household names.

It’s just a horrible company so why use anything of theirs?

Well - I'm using a Google Nest Audio because it flat out works better than a HomePod
(as one other example beyond maps)

I choose products that work the best for my needs

If we are going to get into moral and ethical grounds, I have news for you about ALL the MegaCorps, including Apple.

I am 100% an Apple Maps user. I drive for DoorDash and they have consistantly provided better directions and I know this isn't a big deal for everyone but it easily shows me which way to turn while exiting a parking lot. None of the other maps do that as well.

Correct. Hardly anyone uses Waze, probably a matter of time until they get bought of disappear.

I still use Apple Maps by default, primarily because of the Apple Watch integration. Waze is great when you expect to need to make up time, but one thing all of them do wrong is sending everyone on the same alternate routes when traffic is bad, making it take the same or more time as the packed freeway would have anyway. Nothing quite like getting sent on an alternative route to save 15 minutes, then losing those 15 minutes and then some waiting for 7 light cycles at an unprotected left with 100 other cars that were all sent here by the same app as you were.

I can count on Google Maps finding where I want to go or give me information helping me finding a restaurant or similar, and then take me there in a proper manner (adhere to traffic laws if driving), which cannot be said for Maps. So instead of starting Maps and be disappointed I just go straight to Google Maps these days.

Apple Maps when you are going somewhere familiar.

Google maps or Waze for everything else.

Apple Maps have come a long way

That's kind of like saying:

Apple Maps for when you already know where you are going

Google or Waze Maps for when you need directions and information you can trust

And… Apple Maps still misses a lot of local road works (EU) and speed limits are wrong at least 80% of the time.

Interesting you should say that, I have a car that uses Android Automotive (not Android Auto) so has native Google maps and the speed limits which used to be pretty accurate have become terrible over the last year, showing 60mph on urban streets, 30mph on motorways and even 80mph for some roads despite 80mph not even being a UK speed limit.

On the other hand, if I switch to using Apple Maps via CarPlay, it nails it virtually all the time.

Apple Maps was so bad for so long, I'm not inclined to try it ever again, though sometimes CarPlay brings it up when I'm using Siri.

Even assuming their map data is finally accurate, I don't care for their interface. It seems more a toy than a precision mapping utility - the colors, the layout, etc.

I'm glad Apple Maps exists and that Google has competition to keep them from getting lazy, but it's Google Maps for me all the way.

My wife uses Apple Maps in the car. My car doesn't support CarPlay (weird bug!), so if I need maps I normally use Google Maps - has always served me well when hiking, for example

I think if you asked me 3 or 4 years ago, I'd say Google Maps was head and shoulders above Maps. Now I feel like Maps have closed the gap a bit but I consider Google Maps to still be on top. I have some issues with Maps like certain businesses being unlisted and also places not popping up for me when I search for them sometimes, not to mention experiencing inaccurate and unclear directions while driving. Maps has a long way to go but I do see improvement every year.

Apple Maps exclusively. I remember there bring issues at the beginning, however I haven't had any issues in years.

Aside from avoiding Google because I don't trust them, I actually find Google's UI much more annoying than Apple's, and I find Apple's maps look cleaner and are easier to read.
