A slightly bigger screen!
A slightly faster processor!

No wonder iPad sales are tanking. We need it to actually DO more not just hardware upgrades. I barely use my iPad since I got the iPhone Plus.

These are the most scarred rumors I can remember in a long time.

-Apple to release iPads at march event

-Apple to release iPads in April to coincide with campus opening

-Apple to release iPads next week

The progress on the campus is getting harder to detect now that it's closer to being complete. But from the footage, it looks like there's still an enormous amount of work. It's obvious why the opening has been pushed back. I doubt they'll have an event in the new theater any time soon.

Throughout their history Apple has consistently updated various products without big events.
Not sure what parallel history of apple youve experienced that would make you think every update of every product would call for a media event
Probably doesn't know Apple very well then :p

I'll ask this again but what reason should we upgrade our old ipads?

Apple has done very little with the iOS to use the larger screen size.
I have the iPad Pro 12.9.
Obviously I have a HUGE header.
I don't know why I can't have the date in the header along with the time. Seems like such a useful area to put info in but nooooo.

I'm sure Apple has a master plan, but I'm not following it. Unless they have decided to delay the 10.5" iPad to coincide with the launch of the iPhone Anniversary Edition a refresh now doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Why introduce an update to a product that most people know is destined to be superseded in a month or two.

I'm thinking Tim Cook has the idea a minor refresh at the same $599 price point now will make the almost inevitable $750 10.5" model more palatable as opposed to the expectation the 9.7" would drop to $499.

I can't think of a single reason to change from my iPad Pro 9.7"

It does absolutely everything wonderfully for me (and is now Jailbroken, so it's 150% better than when new now)

What did I just read? I'm hoping the reality will be far less confusing than the rumors.

Every time I see photos of the "space ship" I think of gladiators fighting it out in the center, or racing greyhounds going around it...or donuts. I like the new campus. But it always makes me think of everything other than computers. o_O
mmm... donuts...

Reality is always less confusing than rumors, because at least reality is defined.

The counter to that argument is Microsoft Licensing. Those that know about that are usually kept on mountaintops and are referred to as "gurus".

Not saying it's unlikely, but it would be unfortunate if they release this "new"(only updated) iPad and turn around next month or even June with a completely overhauled 10.5".

I myself am waiting to see if I can justify upgrading from an Air 1.

Regardless, I'm going to wait to see if the iOS is more specialized for iPad in iOS11, but there are plenty of people who will hear about the recently upgraded iPad and jump on it only to be disappointed when they see a new ad in a month or two.

Presentation needs to be in the theater at Apple Park, and somewhere early on in the presentation, Tim Cook needs to cackle about "this fully armed and operational battle station".

a well-known research firm that requested confidentiality told us that, based on their own sources

For some reason, after reading this, all I could think of is something along the lines of: My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who heard it from an apple genius last night. I guess it's pretty solid information.

I'll ask this again but what reason should we upgrade our old ipads?

Apple has done very little with the iOS to use the larger screen size.

Well, iOS 10 basically made my iPad Mini unusable for Safari and for typing. Since I can't downgrade to iOS 9, buying a new iPad Mini is now an option for me.

I wish they would use the Mac-style of labeling instead of Air, Air 2, Air 3, etc.

I still feel like they're going to release 4 new models over the next month or two. The Ipad in 7.9 and 9.7 and the Ipad Pro in 10.5 and 12.9.

My guess is simply based on all the rumors I've been reading here the last few months. Feels like it's heading in that direction. I'm just hoping for a great second version of the 12.9.

Cool, bring it on. Been waiting for a decent excuse to update my Air 2.

My Air 2 stills performs excellent, although I'm definitely interested in upgrading for the sake of upgrading. I just want to see a confirmation with this Keynote to exist. Hopefully by the end of this week, maybe we will know more if invites are sent out.
