2024 sounds like forever to wait for a m3 mac mini
though i'm still liking my core i7 mini
thinking a m2 mini will take care of what i need if i upgrade
just hope they bring back space grey

Picked up a base MM to use as an entertainment hub for our TV. Does what it's supposed to... nothing more, nothing less. $499 seemed a decent price from BB, plus as a totaltech member I get "free" apple+. Matched it with a magic touchpad and keyboard and its perfect. Small package, powerful enough to do what I need. I wouldn't benefit from an M3 chip but glad to see they are forward thinking.

People come to a rumour site and complain when the rumour site posts rumours.

Yes but Apple seems to have burned all of Gurman and especially Prosser’s sources. The only rumors anymore seem to come out of the supply chain directly from Chinese and other Asian sources.

Macrumors themselves can usually tell us when new devices are coming based on the same web server logs.

I am a bit disappointed that core counts seem to have stagnated. That is leaving a lot of work to be done by process improvements and architecture changes.

Worst case is that Apple basically shrinks M2, overclocks it a bit, and makes extra profit by cramming more M3 chips for every wafer than it could for M2.
Expect to be underwhelmed… 😉

I am using a 2018 Intel i7 with 64 GB of OWC ram, an Apple 2TB SSD and 10Gb ethernet acquired in 2020 as a file server with attached OWC 4 drive 32TB Raid. I have a seven port 10Gb ethernet hub and data transfers are excellent on the network. Apple stopped this model in January 2023 (along with the Intel Mac Pro) and they have to support it for at least three more years for both the OS and mechanically. I have extended Apple care to annually so it should work for many more years. Maybe the M3 or M4 mini might support more memory as this mini shows over 55Gb of the ram used as cache when doing major TB data transfers.

Gurman is wrong. All M3 Macs will be unveiled on this October.
  1. Macbook Air (I don't know is they will launch both 13" and 15" with M3, keeping the 15" M2 as a cheaper version, or launching the 13" M3 MacBook Air only)
  2. MacBook Pro M3
  3. iMac
  4. Mac Mini
