Try using a touchscreen laptop for a while and tell us how much it sucks pretty quick. Jobs even talked about the fatigue in one of his keynotes. Holding your arm up like that for extended periods is no fun which is why we haven't seen it in places like the iMac even though outside manufacturers have offered touchscreens for the iMac for years. http://www.trolltouch.com

Plus the bigger the screen the farther away it sits... Your arm would get very tired on a iMac. Screen being farther away so as not to burn your retinas...lol. Touchscreen on a laptop or desktop is overrated. It was just a logical step till everyone went ape **** over tablets. touchscreen laptops are like 3d TV... (yawn)

This thing, and the class of device it represents, is obviously the real reason for the 64-bit transition in the A7.

People worry about the iOSification of Mac OS X, but it looks like Mac OS may just be gradually sidelined by devices like this bubbling up from the bottom.

No

I would buy this. I would love a slightly bigger iPad, with the size similar to that of a paper notebook. Would make typing easier, and eventually it would have the same weight as the iPad 2.

I wish we would see something crazy... all a bit too predicted for a company that supposedly "Doubles down" on security leaks... What happened to Surprise unveilings... Give us something. I know your Apple.... but three years of developing a damn TV and 2 years developing a watch is a bit ridiculous. Come on already

Apple got the domain iPhone.org in 1999 and rumors persisted from then until 2007.

First real iTablet rumors came in 2004, and persisted until 2010.

Real innovation takes time, patents, registrations, etc. There is no way the idea of something like iWatch or iTV won't get out, but it's the details that Apple has always surprised us with.

How about the laptops that convert to tablets? A convertible MacBook Air sounds pretty interesting.

Yeah.... and the rumors about the iPad mini came the year it was released.

Just make this into a phone and we will have instant innovation.

This will kill all notes, maga etc phones from Samsung.

I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't at least looking into the ideas of a more cohesive operating system, similar to what Microsoft did with Windows 8, where iOS and OSX aren't separate entities in the future. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple is considering a laptop with a touchscreen. It's not unlike them to let some other company be first with the idea, make most of the mistakes, and then Apple come out with the right version of the product.

Whether it's something that ever comes to commercial fruition is another story.

OS X will never be touch enabled, it's not designed for it. At best you might hope for some sort of Air that converts to an iPad, complete with iOS.

If this comes to fruition, I hope they do something to the software that makes it worth it. A splitscreen view would be awesome.

this will be for stores, schools etc. It will be more of an enterprise product, than a consumer one. There's a big need for it.

This would be sweet if apple actually made a tablet with full OSX. Why cant they make a rival to the Surface Pro(Not that it is a Much of a Rival) But They would sell the hell out of a 12" iPad running OSX... If that was the case....shut up and take my money:D

This would be awesome IMO

Only worth doing if it allows Apple to ramp up the processing power as well as add a Wacom Stylus.

I actually would love to have this option. I think the ipad is too big for what I would use it for so I picked up a mini. This would be a lay on the table/lap device. I would pick one of these up over a typical iPad any day of the week.

nope really don't see touchable screens on anything that big, except for stupid windows boxes that should never have been made anyway.

ipads are about the biggest thing you would ever need. A better UI on a smaller screen is the way forward.

I could see a touch table working in the future as a collaborative/office/living room experience but it seems more likely that personal ipad type devices hooked into networked TV etc/apple tvs is more useful.

I would really love to see some collab aspect in iOS though, like a network link with both users being able to use the same app simultaneously?
