Are you being deliberately disingenuous or were you asleep for the last 2 years?

They played for 5 weeks in 2020. Back on hiatus. We’ll see if they come back for a 3rd effort.

Every Mickey Mouse football league that has showed up in the last few years gets through 1 season and dies. USFL is next.

We have 2nd and 3rd division soccer leagues that survived through Covid. Somehow the most popular sport in America can’t figure out how to get a 2nd league running for more than a handful of weeks.

One has to ask why would Apple wait on this news? Assuming it is true. And, in my opinion, that would because they want to roll-out a TV package. When you think about it, it's ludicrous that Apple would let Google run away with Youtube TV with very little (real) competition, aside from basically Hulu and DirectTV.
commercial tv rights are the thing the apple may to wait on and workout before they hammered with calls from 10000+ of bars asking about how they will get the games.

Because third parties pay the NFL much more since they can afford to lose money on their broadcasting rights, used as a loss leader to acquire customers for their full programming lineups.

I see.

So the NFL would never get $2 billion worth of subscribers like me... but a DirecTV or an Apple can spend $2 billion even if they know they won't make it back.

I just wanna pay the NFL some amount of money and have access to ANY game all season. Does this type of service exist?

It just seems like it gets more complicated when more hands are involved. (oh this particular game is only available on this service... sorry... etc...)

I wonder how much Apple will charge? I suppose it will not be free and I am fine with it but just wondering…

Feels like a slow march to Apple becoming a full fledged streaming network.

Apple securing live sports without being saddled with filler content from fluff networks is interesting.

It’s like the inverse of Philo.

Let me have Red Zone FFS.
I'm one of those weirdos that loves the redzone channel over watching one game at a time. It's the greatest background noise ever.

I have Youtube TV and they include it with the sports package for something like $11 a month.

the teams may need to go to court to get the right to be able to market there own games to any one.

Nobody here has talked about this costing $399 USD per season in the USA. I live in Thailand where it cost just $99 USD per season. Here it also includes the Red Zone and extras for that price. Also outside the USA, we get every single NFL game no matter when it’s on as they’re all out-of-market games.

What I would expect Apple to do is make this absolutely free for AppleTV+ users. And why not include worldwide rights instead of charging $99 outside the USA.

This would bring in a huge amount of people to AppleTV+ platform that otherwise would have had zero interest. And just about any amount of money would be right from Apple. They’re not going to charge $399 USD per season.

One person in the thread was talking about just wanting any game to be on. That is this, except in USA if get a game on locally broadcast TV, you don’t get the same game on here.

I just made an account here just to give this headline a big thumbs up and comment.

I love it too. But it has 100 percent destroyed NFL Football.

Can’t wait for this announcement! Let’s goo.

Red Zone would be nice too… Although that’s an NFL Network exclusive.
I have Red Zone through YouTube TV. Which works out great, since it's like 12 bucks a month for the sports package, which is way cheaper than paying for Red Zone through Sunday Ticket. Plus, with Red Zone on YouTube TV, you can watch on two different screens/devices, which you can't do with Sunday Ticket.

Apple should bid whatever it takes because Sports Fans will pay Any amount to watch. No upper limit whatsoever. The sports aspect is literally an unlimited cash cow.

I dont see how this is included in a $4.99/mo service, when the market has showed demand at a higher price point. I anticipate being able to subscribe to a single team, watch a single game, or get the whole season.

I really hope 1 season of access is included with purchases of devices. Keep buying apple, and keep getting sunday ticket for free.

Apple is trying to make a splash with AppleTV+. If they really want to go to the top of the streamers, they should add Sunday ticket to the service for no extra charge. Only Apple could do that.
