Oh for gods sake Apple just hurry up and redesign it! it looks outdated now and plus the current models are crap :apple:

Not sure what you think they will do to redesign it but things will get sacrificed like Superdrive or if they change everything to MBPro/Airs Drive space will be less and cost more, CPU speed may only get a slight bump, not sure what you are hoping for but for me personally I would prefer a 13" without a Superdrive and better GPU and Dual HDD option as long as it still has FW800 I am ok. I did read a lot here and other places Apple is not completely counting out USB 3.0 which would be smarter, however eSata is a waste at this juncture.

Some upgrades are performance bumps, like the big one from 2010 to 2011.

Then there those which deliver detail upgrades for a better overall experience.

I expect such an upgrade before a redesign to address issues like heat.

And why not drop the optical drive for a second hard drive? Saves buyers the investment and the hassle of doing the optibay thing.

Let's hope it stays that way. Give me an 8-month release schedule late December / early January priority early release of Ivy Bridge. It wouldn't be unprecedented, and boy would it be nice. Even if I won't be using Lion, I can't go pass the hardware if they get it right!

"According to people with proven insight into Apple's future product plans, the late-2011 MacBook Pro refresh will deliver marginal speed bumps to the notebooks' Core i-Series of Sandy Bridge processors but will otherwise introduce no material changes over the existing models.

While precise timing for the update may change, those same people say the Mac maker currently anticipates an introduction of the refreshed line before the end of the month, possibly following the close of the company's Back-to-School promotion, which ends on September 20th.

Yup ... some "proven insight" there ...

I suppose something might happen in the next week, but I'm not holding my breath ...

When?!??!??!

My girlfriend is in need of a new mac and im waiting for Apple to release this so I can get it for her. Anyone have any idea of the exact date yet?

No.

Only Apple would know, and obviously they're not saying.

Im kinda torn..

i continue to hope for a redesign, but more evidence is leading towards just a speed bump..

should I get one now? or wait a few months and pray for a redesign?
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Amazon has basically gone out of stock of the high end 15 and the 17...you can get them on there but from other sellers....this as been the case for couple weeks now...id guess very soon the new one will come out, I may order it when it does. Have to see how the 17 looks.

Whatever you do I wouldn't get one now. They are due for a refresh according to the Buyer's Guide.

The real question is when the refresh comes out in a month or two and it isn't a redesign, do you wait or do you buy?
