We are not limited any more and SSD can be replaced, so we can hold decision of getting bigger SSD til lthe later date:) Simple.
Actually you are still limited, as of right now, there is no way for anyone to upgrade the storage on the current line of MBA/rMBP. We're approaching 2 years with this type of storage and so far OWC and transcend has not rolled anything out. I'm not sure why, I don't know if its technical, or legal, i.e., patents but the point remains you cannot guarantee that we'll see SSDs.

Hi Guys! So I'm in a look out for the MBP Retina 13inch 2014 and am really confused between the 128gb base and 256gb mid model. As the only difference being the storage is it worth the extra 200$. Can I buy the 128gb and then upgrade the storage also I will be using this laptop for a good 4-5years. Apple is rumoured to launch a touch screen MBP so is it worth waiting for it? I have been on a look out for a laptop since the past 2 years and am now tired for waiting! But this time is the upgrade going to be worth it? If not the MBP Retina which other laptop would you suggest? I will be using it for photo and video editing and might even dual boot it with windows 8.
All your suggestions would be really appreciated
Thank You :)

I think the answer to the storage question really depends on your tolerance to external drives. Anyone can manage fine with 128Gb if they are happy to use an external.

Personally I hate externals so pushed the boat out for a 1Tb internal. I still use an external but only for archived stuff which I only to need to connect very rarely.

Bite the bullet, spend the extra money and get the larger hard drive. A year frlso, larger hard drive = better resale value.

The percentage of value you lose is higher with a higher spec'd machine. From all my my experience - selling around 30 Mac laptops.

With all of the cloud storage options out there, and assuming you are connected to the internet with the rMBP 99% of the time, why would you really need the extra 128 GB storage for $200? Seems way overpriced.

i got 256GB and then i bought a 128GB Jetdrive 330

Why would you buy the jet drive if you already bought the 256gb Model?

----------

The broadwell core m chips have been released confirming the laptops to go fanless and thinner packed with more battery life, the broadwell u chips are said to be launched in early 2015 these chips are the ones which make it to the macbook pros so do you guys think the mbp will go fanless too? Is it worth waiting for it? I mean no fan noise at all!

----------

SD card is slower then the internal drive. Its not a bad alternative, I've considered that as option myself.

So what did you end up with?

So what did you end up with?

Bc I wanted as much storage as possible without paying the really high price for the 512GB model

You can't ever have too much storage
