That update....this is why you never trust a damn thing Ming-Chi Kuo says.I wish MR would stop posting his idiotic "predictions"

This. I've got a TV ready and waiting to be upgraded from a Chromcast to a new Apple TV connection. I won't buy the currently available old tech for $99 on principle. So my next Apple TV purchase will be when they release a new product. I might even buy two and put one of my older ones out to pasture.

I'm dealing with the same thing myself. I'm currently using an Amazon Fire TV, the only non-Apple product in my ecosystem. I miss mirroring and streaming my music, but I'm having a hard time spending $100 on an Apple TV when I can get a newer, better product for less (when it's on sale, and it usually is).

I'm about to move into a new house and we don't want to have a cable tv subscription. We haven't had one in five years. We're talking about outfitting each tv in the house with an Apple TV, but I will be pissed if I spend $300 in Apple TVs for them to release a new one 60 days later. That's exactly what happened when I bought my Apple TV 2.

Seems that many here see this event as big, covering a lot of products. I see it as just the iWatch, and maybe the iPad pro, nothing else. If there were to be other products involved, Apple would hold another event in a couple of months to extend the hype time

Success or not, I do find the frustration of having to deal with a 2" display on a wrist rather than just pulling out a phone laughable. I suppose there are some very specific circumstances where pulling out a phone is not an option, but the majority of people who want the Watch don't want it just because of that.

I hate these types of posts.

There is no need to call people laughable if what they want doesn't fit with what you want, or your opinion. You try to make it appear that your opinion is a fact.

"the majority of people who want the Watch don't want it just because of that."

Again, your make your opinion appear as fact.

Please offer your opinions, and why, and report the facts when they are facts and you can substantiate them.

Doesn't make much sense. If the Apple Watch comes out in April, I assume the event will be in March?

Yeah, but the Apple Watch was already introduced so it doesn't make much sense to have another event just for it. Unless there's something else they want to introduce for the 1st time, like a 12" retina MBA or something else (iPad Pro, iPhone 6s)???

I disagree. The watch was announced, but I feel the real announcement will include a lot of watch detail, after all, who wants a dang smart watch?? It has to be marketed to the extreme to show why we all must have this insanely great device. The iPad Pro is the rest of the announcement. Anything else will be another announcement to keep the steady flow of Apple news rolling on.

Say they had one per year, announcing everything, then its quiet for 11 months and two weeks.

Its ironic that many talk about Apple's hype. LOL, they do extremely little to market the hype, its the people, the journo's that do that for free. What does Apple do? Issue an invitation for two or three announcements, that is pretty much it. Marketing with Honours

Neither is the non Apple user who lives on Apple forums, while the rest of the world gets on with life

I agree.

I own Apple products, can I be part of your club now? Some are good, some are not.

If you read between the lines, what I am saying is there is a large segment of the Apple consumer that will buy anything that this company puts out. That's not a smart consumer, that's just a consumer with blind loyalty. The Apple Watch is an abomination aesthetically and there's absolutely nothing known feature wise that makes it a compelling product to spend a few hundred dollars on.

Some rules apply. Like Never ever buy first generation. Apple watch will be success no matter what. I'm kind bored as the Apple software is becoming uninspiring. everything they taut about is just boooring.

That's definitely a good topic for another thread. Apple's software development the last 3-4 years has been uninspiring to say the least.

Ive noticed that there is a lot of emphasis on Apple's software, especially software that is part of OSX.

Its free, but if its not good enough, there must be dozens of alternatives out there. I don't see why many get hung up over Photos or iPhoto for example. How many other photo apps are there? Dozens I'd suggest. Yu cannot expect one item of software to suit all manner of users out there

… for another thread. Apple's software development the last 3-4 years has been uninspiring to say the least.

I thought first of Is there any chance Apple will innovate again? – it's one of a number of topics to which I recently subscribed, whilst spending a long time figuring out where best to post Mac OS X for phone/voice calls: progress in the decade since Panther.

I was midway through drafting something under the innovation topic when posts disappeared without explanation from another topic that's not recent. In the absence of explanations I assume that there's a preference to ignore past discussions. Oh well.
