Did your iPad stop working? No. therfore it's not obsolete.
Did those countries get rid of the towers the ipad 3 was using? If your iPad 3 worked in that country yesterday, it works there today. Therefore, it's not obsolete.

Yes. Kinda sketchy that Apple discontinues a model introduced just 7 months ago but keeps the previous model active.
I'll probably still get the new, new one, even though I bought the new, less new one at launch and another for my wife in mid August. I'll just hand apple my credit card, bend over and let them slide the new new ipad up my ass!

Its been 8 months since the iPad 3 came out. Products get updated and this isn't that big of an update. Its more like an iPad 3s. There always going to be something new coming out. I think Apple was very smart doing what they did. Bunch of new stuff right before the holidays.
