If the pricing reports are accurate, why pay that for the first generation? Been burned on that before with less expensive items. Second gen maybe......

Ugh, that render they keep using makes me cringe. If this is going to be ‘mixed reality’, you’ll need to be able to see through it.

It's been mentioned in earlier articles that it may utilise cameras for the see-through effect

it's really just a wearable (3D) monitor. Imagine you could hallucinate at will; that's the ceiling for use cases.

Not at all. Just to pick one out of a hat - you could use this tech in foreign countries to auto-translate all the text you see, on signs for example. That would be awesome and incredibly useful.

In 2006 they were saying those exact words about the rumored iPhone release

I’d be interested to find out what other use cases they’d be pitching for this product apart from gaming.
I think this product is more difficult to fit than the smartphone. The smartphone is the natural evolution of the traditional cell phone.

But these are glasses that put you in an unreal world, in the metaverse. There is nothing that exists today similar (VR glasses have existed for years, but very minority).

I think that if people pay thousands of euros or dollars in eye surgeries to remove their glasses, I don't know if these products, both VR and AR, are going to be successful. Because honestly, I don't see people spending all day with VR glasses working in the metaverse.

The AR glasses, through which, you see an expanded information of reality, I see them as a somewhat more feasible option, but I still doubt their mass success because of what I said, as a general rule, people do not like to wear glasses, and actually pay to take them off.

So who is going to want to spend hours with glasses on to be in a world that does not exist, for tasks that are not merely recreational? Well, I don't know, but to me it is something that brings me absolutely nothing, even in a world in which teleworking prevailed, which, at least in Europe, is becoming less and less important, because we are forced to be more face-to-face again.

The reason why that’s unlikely to happen any time soon is because of having to have something physically on your face for long periods of time. People are generally not going to want to do that. A wrist or other body part is different to a face. Once the form factor becomes smaller to fit into regular glasses then mass adoption will be more likely.
That’s what I meant when I said this model would probably not be desirable to that many people. I believe this is a test bed for the software implementation of Augmented Reality, similar to how the implementation on iPhone and iPad is mostly as a test bed. That way they can effectively develop the software “in the real world” while they work on miniaturizing the hardware. The difference between testing Augmented Reality on iPhone and iPad and these supposed goggles if mostly the method of interaction. They can test more effectively by using a device that more closely resembles the form factor they’re going for.

So 2024 till I get one. Cool.

I'll stick with my Quest 2 in the meantime, especially now that the Facebook account requirement is going away next month PRAISE GOD

Honestly. Who wants this?
Me. Virtual monitors at my desk or even as I work on my couch, videos playing on the side as I do my home chores… I see several compelling use cases. More so if they can make fashionably acceptable glasses for wearing out in public.

When were the very first Apple headset rumours coming out 2014??? It would be interesting to know the length of the development cycle. I am thinking though the length of time and the product we will get will not be as outstanding as we think imo

Assuming this launches. Like every 1st get apple product, it will be the slowest and crappiest version of that product

Honestly. Who wants this?
It takes a deeper understanding of the true potential of the metaverse to really understand how powerful of a device this will be. Keep in mind, that Apple believes this type of technology will replace the iPhone within the next decade.
