Couple thoughts about the iphone
First off, this is my first reply to this forum - so be gentle! 😉
I think that the US phone carrier war is overrated. For the last 4 years, I've been with Tmobile. And I've never used a tmobile phone. I've been buying weird European models 'unlocked' via ebay, and they've done me fine.
Currently I have a Sendo X that works pretty well with the Tmobile service. I picked up the phone brand new through eBay. It was about $200 bucks, uses SD Cards to hold the music. And it's way cool because I can be listening to music (i have a 512mb card) and take an incoming call (it automatically puts the music on hold). Reception wise it works great. It came with a stereo headset that has a microphone built into the volume control. Now it's not the fastest phone b/c it's an mp3 player, a camera (with flash), a phone, a contacts, calendar, organizer, and it can view word docs (no editing).
So I guess what I'm saying is, if Apple can add a bit more space and increased functionality to a phone like this, we'll all be in good shape. And if Cingularizon or Verizular (or whatever mega-merger comes our way) is the sole carrier, just go buy an 'unlocked' one on eBay.
With that said: I'm about to buy a 60gb ipod. so i can keep all my tunes in one place, hook it up to my home stereo, and take it with me. I have such a vast amount of playlists (especially the smart ones) that I can't stand not having them with me on the go or at home on the stereo!
That's just my two cents.
thanks
