you cant compare crysis to call of duty... thats idiotic.

compare call of duty xbox sales to call of duty pc sales

Call of Duty 4 Tops 7 Million Units Worldwide, Labeled Best Selling Game of 2007

only 3.04 million on xbox and few hundred thousand on ps3 so lot of pc users!

xbox/ps3/wii also have autoaim so realistically its not a game its like cheating on a exam paper....

Sure you can. Unless you're arguing on a computer forum, a game's a game. People choose to game on consoles and not on computers because it's easier, cheaper, and arguably more fun. I know I'd buy a 360 if I wanted to play COD, or any other modern game. Why? Because it would be cheaper than buying/building a desktop to play said game, and the 360 would play up-to-date games at full framerates with zero complications for several years longer than an equivalent PC would. This is a no-brainer for most folks.

Fine but you're confusing the worldwide 7 million and the 3.04 million XBox sales which is only in North America. In fact the PC version only sold 383000 copies in North America. Meaning that the XBox version sold nearly 8x more copies than the PC version. (source)

not entirely true, most consoles only display 30fps depending on the game

ATM Virtual Fighter 4 is the only 60FPS console game so far..

and 60 isnt full framerates ;)

No, you are for comparing a North American sales figure to a worldwide sales figure.

It doesn't need to have that much auto-aim. Besides, if everyone has a little, it's still a level playing field. Sure, newbies might be a bit better at it than they would be otherwise, but the great players will still have outstanding statistics. Get off your PC gaming high horse. Xbox Live is the real deal.

ive played on all console and have ps3/xbox/wii

xbox is now reboxed up and ready to sell/takeback
ps3 is ok but will be gone shortly

WII now theres a gaming console that does something, it may have auto aim on some games but most is free aiming.

It will never happen. Its impossible in OS X's current form. Drivers are almost as bad as the generic catch-all VGA driver that comes with Windows when you first install it, its OpenGL sucks, and directX has a monopoly on game engines. Youre left with a computer that has drivers that were made 6 months before the game came out, no directx so it has to be ported to opengl, and then you have to use the opengl port on a system that sucks at opengl. Its a no win situation.

When was the last time you went to nvidia.com to download the latest optimized driver for a new game? Drivers have a major impact on performance, which explains why so many mac vs PC gaming benchmarks show the PC at pretty much twice the performance with the same hardware. Apple would have to get rid of the slow performing generic kext that gets updated once a year and come out with highly optimized drivers that come out multiple times a month.

Pretty much the entire system would have to be overhauled if it wants to compete with PC gaming.

#1 video drivers are better written for gaming in windows
#2 less market share means that gaming companies have little incentive to concentrate on macs
#3 lack of good hardware and videocards poses a huge issue
#4 lack of a midrange tower mac for a decent price..

Apple's business is trendy, hip hardware. Apple's business is making everything simple for the average person. Apple's business is not rolling out new hardware every time a new video card comes out, and making the computer you just bought feel prematurely old.

they will be missing the point of computers if they go towards gaming.

I understand the "Never" responses because that's probably true, but why say "This shouldn't happen"? "Dude, you can't game on a mac" is the only argument Windows fans have against macs, and they know it. Despite not actually caring about most PC games, my friends still razzed on me for not being able to play them on my mac in college. Don't say something like "if you want to play games, buy a console" because they are expensive and some games are much better on pc. Despite not having an Intel mac right now, I dream of a day when I wouldn't need Windows on my mac at all just to play games that I would play if I had an Intel mac.

Do you mean, 'when will Apple catch up...?

I would imagine that it's not their intention to catch up. If they really wanted to, they'd be making it one hell of a lot more obvious.

new controllers with the apple tv, apple tv games wii style etc...

They're not even trying at the moment as far as I can tell.
