I can't wait for the memes to begin. This is simply gold! Well done to the graphics designer who has the best sense of humor ever!

The only way that it would be better, would be if, upon activation of said periscope, that a random piratey sound would play.

Ignoring all you knuckleheads who can't get over an obviously piss pour illustration...that's hardly the point here.

The periscope lens design is perfect for a thin device like a phone. If Apple can get a manufacturer on board and get it built to quality and scale, and therefore price, they could have a great new thing in the phone world...maybe not exclusive since Samsung and LG have the ability to do one as well. But imagine an iPhone with a 10-12x optical zoom, digitally bumped to 30-40x...that's an interesting little camera. And if it reduces the bump on the back? That's a winner (although what will all the wags have to gripe about if they remove the bump?)

The key thing to remember is Apple's manufacturing lead time. They are already lining up mass production for parts on the iPhone 13 for release in 2021, so this camera, if we ever see something like it, is AT BEST slotted for the iPhone 14 in 2022. Any sort of hiccup in design, patent wars or mass production and it would slide it to 2023. That's the way it works when you need to produce millions and millions of something.

So keep making your goofy periscope jokes...and then transition into the obligatory "I won't buy it, it's too expensive already." jabs....and then go back to checking Tik Tok on your Android...

Now we are talking...
Apple should urgently follow this example. If a friend has this camera, I would look sadly at my iPhone. I do not like that at all! And we know: The Leica is right in front...
Of course, this is only possible if the depth in the optical area is 9mm (vs. 7.4mm iPhone 12 Pro Max). But who would mind in this non-standard variant?

For me this is a dangerous attack on Apple, let's hope that Apple will follow suit soon. After all, Apple with its light sensitivity is unsurpassable at the moment...

Apple: Samsung, we would like to license your periscope lens technology

Samsung: We appreciate your interest apple, but remember that lawsuit a few years back Regarding square designs? Yeaaaa....we do.

Such talks are not that silly. You don't have to worry about that.

The calendar must a bit off at the the ETNews... The April 1st is still almost four months off;)

THIS will make me upgrade! Limited zoom range and the weirdness of having a big 3-lens bump makes me not think the Pro (Max) is worth it; on the other hand, the 12 mini still has a big camera bump but doesn't even have a telephoto lens like my X.

don't think it will be that hard when they do business together already.
