I did that but it did not work. I had to use crappy iTunes and I had to put my password in about four times but after it still shows Apple Music renewing on Sep 8th 2016 and my account says I have a Apple ID balance of $99. I called up customer service had him remove the number and we did it again on the phone again using the music extension but nothing changed. Still says Sep 8th 2016 with a $99 Apple ID balance. They said to call them back on my renewal date if I get charged the normal monthly rate. A real mess that I could not even do it on a web browser unlike every other service out there.

I had a mare with it as well, 30 minutes on the phone to Apple support. Redeemed the code(UK ebay purchase) It never even showed up on my account. Apple had to remove it then I had to add it back so now it shows as redeemed and is in my account in itunes but doesnt even show in Apple music on iPhone at all. In Apple Music on iPhone my account says I'm subscribed with my monthly renewal coming off next month at 9:99. You'd expect the app to show the renewal as Sept 6th 2017 but nope its showing as October 6th 2016. An absolute F up. :(

Sounds like something to do with the card codes that you're getting on ebay. Perhaps those are just regular iTunes cards that you're getting a $5 discount on. In that case you would only be saving 5% instead of roughly 16.7% with the 12 month membership card.

All of this is still less than what you would save purchasing gift cards during the holidays when they are usually 20% off. Sometimes even 25% off.

Well according to this it suppose to be the right gift card which I bought from Ebay.

Yeah, I just found the listing with that card on ebay so it is a subscription card. The question is whether Apple's systems are failing to properly redeem these "correct" card codes, or the codes being given by "Paypal Digital Gifts," the seller, are faulty.

I wish, more like 70% of the music ever recorded with a bias towards the mainstream.

Oh, also I hope you like tracks/albums randomly disappearing from your library due to legal rights expiring; no notification no nothing, just the pleasant surprise of finding out just when you want it.

Just not worth the hassle right now, maybe in 10 years it'll be good (same goes for all streaming services).
Maybe I'm jaded but when i read posts like this i think of the goth kids on South Park and hear it in their voices.

Why is that a question, i bought one, redeemed the number got a popup that it will automatically stop monthly auto renewal when my new month starts.

Thanks for the head up! I'm doing that for the last 20 years or so now.
Didn't sound, from your post, that you knew that.

My card has now registered correctly by the look of it.

In iTunes on my iMac if I log into my account I can see the £99 has registered as a year of Apple Music membership. My regular subscription that renewed on August 29th was cancelled and I got a proportional refund to my account for the balance of that month. The subscription then renewed without coming off my regular iTunes Store credit. In my iTunes purchase history it is invoiced as £0:00, so I guess I'll have another 11 of those zero invoices then it will start coming off my store credit again.

You can buy this £99 yearly Apple Music membership with discounted iTunes Store credit here in the UK. Buy a £100 gift card with 20% off making it £80. You use the £100 card to buy the £99 year membership and the £1 left is credited to your iTunes Store credit, effectively making your year of Apple Music £79.

I've stacked 2 cards now, my renewal isn't due till September 2018 now :):)
Thanks I wondered if that was possible. in today's changing streaming services and software in general I decided not lock in for longer than one year.

I wonder if Apple will offer a 12-month subscription for $99 separate from this gift card? It would be nice to be able to use my existing iTunes balance and have it deduct $99.

I'll soon forget I've paid for it and it'll feel like I'm getting it for free....

Did not work for me. My Apple ID balance deducted $9.99 so it was $89. Called them up a follow up and he removed the card and cancelled my service no Apple Music. It did credit but he is going to be calling me later and I will try it again this time with a cancelled account. In the meanwhile I forgot I had $12 worth of Play Store credits using the Survey app so I redeemed a free month of Play Music with about $2 left in credits.

As much as I complain about Google they make it so simple to redeem and use credits. Apple is a mess. I have to use iTunes of all things not even on there mess of a web site. Yet some settings you have to do on the Apple ID page while many other settings I have to use crappy iTunes. Also every little change requires you to keep entering your freaking password.

I now regret even going for a year of Apple Music it is still a mess because of iTunes.

Yeah - TESCO are currently selling the £100 iTunes Gift card for £80.

With the £20 saving on Gift Card and £20 saving on Apple Music membership suddenly £79 (equivalent of £6.58 per month) seems very tempting!

I've never been a fan of Streaming music but the fact that Apple Music is now compatible with my new SONOS Play:5, I might just bite the bullet and go for it :)
