Last October, Microsoft announced that Apple Music and Apple TV apps would be coming to the Microsoft Store in 2023 for installation on Windows devices, providing significant improvements for users on those platforms who have had to access Apple Music via the web or Apple's outdated iTunes for Windows app and Apple TV+ via the web.

Preview versions of the two apps, as well as an Apple Devices app for managing devices such as iPhones, iPads, and iPods from Windows machines have now appeared in the Microsoft Store, as noted by The Verifier [Google Translate].

In the app descriptions, Apple highlights that, as preview versions of these apps, "not all features may work as expected." The company also warns that installing any of these apps will prevent iTunes for Windows from opening. As a result, other content types such as audiobooks and podcasts will be inaccessible until Apple releases a compatible version of iTunes or the user uninstalls the preview apps.

All three of the new Apple apps require Windows 11 version 22621.0 or higher.

Update: Users are currently unable to install the preview apps on their machines, but will likely be able to do so soon.

win11 minimum? gone are the days when apps on both sides could run on OSes many versions back.

Now watch it have missing features from the Mac app like Apple Music on android does.
Seriously, why has Crossfade been available for Android for years, but it’s still missing from iOS?
I don’t get it.

I'm in Canada and had to swap my desktop region to US to get an install button. Of course that's a thing.

First thing I tried was hardware media keys for playback and it doesn't accept them. Of course. I just wish Apple behaved on the platform.
I don't get why the MS Store doesn't show a "This item is not available in your country" message. Also why are they even restricted to the US in the first place?

Unsurprised. Microsoft keep breaking the store model, APIs, design guidelines, frameworks and toolchains regularly. They murdered an entire operating system doing this already (windows phone) which scared all the app developers away. I suspect this is also why there has been very little uptake on the app store so far.

Also I reckon Microsoft are paying them to add it to the app store. I know someone who runs a software company and Microsoft funded the app store integration for their product. No one has installed their product from the MS app store so far, instead installing it via the download link on their web site 🤣

I’m in the US and it installed for me without issue. One feature I’m already seeing doesn’t work is that play/pause functionality on my headphones doesn’t work, otherwise smooth sailing though.

Does the Devices app allow you to transfer files over to the device like iTunes does? Doesn’t look like it from the screenshot.

Since it’s only a preview and it breaks iTunes, which I still currently rely on to manage my iPhone/iPad, I am not going to install this just yet. But I would love someone to provide a thorough overview, particularly for the Apple Devices app

I just tried this on my intel surface pro 8, and it worked pretty well, at least TV app. Unfortunately, and this may apply to others, it refuses to install on any windows on arm PC, like Suface pro X or the new surface pro 9 with 5G which I just got to try out.

Just poked around a bit on my work PC. It's definitely a preview app, but it's surprisingly full featured! Happy to see iTunes Store and star ratings make it over.

Both Apple Music and TV seem to work flawless so far on my desktop. I'm actually impressed, cause historically Apple apps were clunky on Windows.

That did the trick for me. Thanks!
