Same here. My MacBook runs my wired open backs very well and am not set up for iPhone or iPad streaming whatsoever.... Fingers crossed for a Mac-app..... I bet a huge part of classical music lovers listen via their Macs, use dacs and amps, wired headphones etc.... perhaps not always the iPhone-on-the-go crowd.....
That's a really good point.
I suppose it's possible they will allow the iPhone app to work on MacOS, but somehow I get the feeling this will be disabled.

They can at least give us a web-based option as Spotify does.

Also, I know it's anathema to some audiophiles, but I drive my Sundara and 6XX with these guys on my phone when I'm on the couch or around the house and not on my listening station.

I can see a few reasons why this is a separate app, but it seems unnecessary. Couldn’t they have just folded this into the Music app?
Given Apple Music oversized amount of content, this would be like separating a huge percentage to make Apple Music less bloated plus the obvious different search methods used between much longer classical works and modern music that is tracked based. Just as iTunes got too bloated, its Apple Musics turn I guess.

The last search result when searching for "Apple Music Classical" in the app store is "Apple Music Classical."

I can't tell if that means search is working (promoted listings) or failing (the app with the exact name I'm looking for is the last result).

I can’t wait for this. 🎵 Life changing!

The App store list the app as “Works on this iPad.” And I could only find it on this iPad. But once I selected preorder, it appeared on my iPhone App Store, with a check mark.

I am looking forward to this, but I really, really, would like an iPadOS version (I cannot understand why there isn‘t one?) and a version for TvOS because I often like to stream music from my AppleTV.

Let us hope that the initial release for iPhone only is then later extended!
This is the big thing. Apple made such a big deal about universal apps. Why isn’t everything that’s on iPhone also on iPad. Plus, I simply want to use this on my iPad where I do a lot of work. Apple is so inconsistent these days.

After having replied to mainmini above, I’m wondering whether it will work on the iPad as most iPhone apps do, and even on my M series Macs, as some iPad apps do. I’ve signed up for this and am eagerly waiting to see how it works. I use my 13.3” Macbook Pro I bought when it came out, as my music server, so that’s where I really want it.

This is awesome. Classical Music is a bit of a mess in Apple Music right now so I will be interested to see how they manage the UI challenge (I've never used Primephonic).

In case you're wondering why a separate app is needed, CNET did good explanation here:

Likewise (5K/6XX), and outside, weather permitting.

I'd have to imagine that key differences in app architecture between Apple Music and Apple Music Classical's re-skinned Primephonic app is the primary reason. With that said, as a Apple Music subscriber, Apple Music's search feature is good, but it could be improved as results often vary for less "mainstream" music. Hopefully, Apple is planning a larger, downfield integration of these 2 apps that will bolster overall user experience.

All good except for this: “There is no version of ‌Apple Music‌ Classical for iPadOS, making it an iPhone-only app.”

Whaaat? Why is the iPad always the red-headed step child at Apple? No Health app, no calculator, and no Apple Classical. Boooo!

I literally don't understand the point of this? Are they taking all the classical music off the regular Apple Music app? Surely not, because that would be stupid. So all it really offers is better search? Why not just make the search better in the regular app?
