Maybe instead Apple can fine-tune existing Music app into more relevant Listen Now, Browse, and Radio screens?

It's amazing how after years of use, labeling thousands of songs with likes and dislikes, creating my own playlists, and a clear history of music played, I still get mostly irrelevant recommendations and promotions into my feed. I know for a fact that I'm not the only person complaining of this, is anyone listening?

List of electronic music genres

This is a list of electronic music genres, consisting of genres of electronic music, primarily created with electronic musical instruments or electronic music technology. A distinction has been made between sound produced using electromechanical means and that produced using electronic technology.[1] Examples of electromechanical sound producing devices include the telharmonium, Hammond organ, electric piano, and the electric guitar. Purely electronic sound production can be achieved using devices such as the theremin, sound synthesizer, and computer.[2] Genre, however, is not always dependent on instrumentation.
In its early development, electronic music was associated almost exclusively with Western art music, but from the late 1960s, the availability of affordable music technology—particularly of synthesizers—meant that music produced using electronic means became increasingly common in the popular domains of rock and pop music and classical music, resulting in major electronically based subgenres.[3] After the definition of MIDI in 1982 and the development of digital audio, the creation of purely electronic sounds and their manipulation became much simpler.[4] As a result, synthesizers came to dominate the pop music of the early 1980s.[5] In the late 1980s, electronic dance music (EDM) records made using only electronic instruments became increasingly popular, resulting in a proliferation of electronic genres, subgenres, and scenes.[6] In the new millennium, as computer technology became even more accessible and music software advanced, interacting with music production technology made it possible to create music that has some similarities and some differences to traditional musical performance practices, leading to further developments and rapidly evolving subgenres.[7]

Apple please next electronic music we need this bad lol.

The same reason why it's taken them so long to release a Country Music App. Or a Reggae App. Or a Beyonce Music App. Or a Kenya West App. Or a Barry Manilow Greatest Hits App.

There is zero reason for each music category to have its own app.

We have enough apps in our iPhones. I don't even know how this Burger King App got inside my iPhone.... o_O
I’m not sure if this was meant to be funny, but it was😅

There's zero animus against classical music on my part but the Apple Music for Mac app needs the love before they branch out to yet another music app.
This may be hard to believe, but Apple can do more than two things at a time. The Apple music app is fine. The classical app is very much needed.

There are many reasons. If you'd actually read the thread, and other threads on this very subject, you might understand.

Re: Burger King. Well, you obviously have/had an interest in their burgers. It's OK to admit it. I even like one of their burgers once in a while.

In addition to all the characteristics of classical music already mentioned that support a separate app, the way classical music is listened to is different from other types of music. For example, when a movement of a work ends, it doesn’t make much sense to have a randomly selected track come up next or for a “trending” metric to choose what follows.

The Music app is really a mess. My library is stuffed into one tab (Library), and I almost never use the other 4 tabs. It's basically designed to push you to Apple's music, which I don't care about.

I'm back to cs player now, which I forgot about for a few years. It implements the old iTunes interface, and seems to work pretty well.

How very sad. You will never be able to feel how classical music can touch the very deepest parts of our souls.

It's always been amusing to me that the powerless listen to music that makes them feel powerful, whereas the powerful listen to music that makes them feel pretty much every other feeling but powerful.

Why does it need a separate app just for one type of music genre isn’t it better to all be in one app?
Current Apple Music really doesn't work well for classical music. I have a friend who come over once a week or so. He's a classical music guy -- I am not, but we listen to classical music when he's here.

It's actually pretty comical (read: impossible) how hard it is in Apple Music to ask for a particular movement within a particular symphony by a particular composer by a particular orchestra. All of those search items are required for classical music -- but not for pop music.

And this is really just because they’re taking over an outside app (Primephonic). It doesn’t give me hope that Apple has any idea how to fix their own Music app or develop one from the ground up.

The repetitive bugs we experience on Apple Music have to be experienced inside Apple HQ. So why isn't Apple fixing them?! Instead of spending money on sponsoring a Super Bowl halftime show, use the money to hire programmers to make this a premiere app. It just doesn't make sense the drastic difference in quality between Apple Photos app on Mac compared to Apple Music on Mac. Throw away the iTunes underbelly & start over. Please.

Neue Deutsche Todeskunst on Neumann speakers; a killer combination. ;)

Silly. And I’ve seen the post w/ the sub genre breakdown. Same could be done for Hip Hop, EDM, Country, Rock, Alternative. Apple is not the best at deciding what goes where in relation to genres. Ie. the 'Purchased' column in Apple TV has movies all over the place, it’s best just to search alphabetically than to search within the genre Apple believes the movie you're looking for should be in.

Each category? Really?

I don't understand all the aggrieved pushback such as the above.

Don't like or care for classical music? Don't install/use the app.

Simple. Life goes on.

People who want to listen to Single Ladies by Beyonce just want to hear... Single Ladies sung by Beyonce. Whatever the best quality recording is. They don't want a cover and most of them aren't going to care what release the recording was originally a part of.

People who want to listen to a symphony by Beethoven, Mozart, Dvorak, etc often want to listen to a specific recording from a specific point in time. Maybe they want to hear it by the Chicago Philharmonic, or the London Symphony Orchestra, or Vienna, or Berlin, or by their favourite conductor. Maybe they want to hear performance led by a famous conductor from the 60s even if the audio quality isn't the "Best." Classical music fans care about this stuff. There's no "definitive" version, unlike with a modern song by someone Beyonce or Kanye. It's not like you are listening to Mozart play the instruments himself. It's a music, but a different kind of music. Apple Music can be kinda janky as is, but it's really not set up for this kind of browsing.

Apple bought a classical music streaming service called Primephonic back in 2021. This app is probably based on their work.

This sounds awesome and I'm an Android user. ;) This sounds promising! Conceptually, I wish YouTube Music has something similar!

The Apple Music Classical app that Apple first announced when it acquired classical music service Primephonic could potentially be launching in the near future according to additional mentions of "Apple Music Classical" found in the iOS 16.4 beta.

apple-music.jpg

Code in the beta suggests that listening to Apple Music Classical will require users to have the standard Apple Music app installed. "To listen in Apple Music Classical, you'll need to install Apple Music," reads a line in the MusicKit framework.

As of right now, there is no sign of an Apple Music Classical app in iOS 16.4, but that doesn't mean that it won't come in a later beta or with the iOS 16.4 launch.

Apple initially said in 2021 that Apple Music Classical would be introduced "next year," aka, 2022, but that did not happen. There was no 2022 launch of the new classical music experience, and Apple has provided no updates on when we might expect to see the new app.

Apple promised that Apple Music Classical would be a dedicated classical music app that is separate from Apple Music, but this makes it clear that the Apple Music Classical app will also require Apple Music to be installed.

This is not the first time that we've seen references to Apple Music Classical in an iOS 16 update. iOS 16.3, for example, added "Open in Apple Music Classical" wording to the code, and there have also been mentions of the feature in backend code on Apple's site.

It is unclear why Apple has taken so long to introduce an Apple Music Classical app, and though we continue to see signs of it, it still remains a mystery as to whether it will come in iOS 16.4, a later iOS 16 update, or iOS 17.

Why does Apple make it so difficult to stream 24 bit/192kHz music from their devices? High res Apple Music is an illusion wrapped inside an enigma.

I really hope this comes alongside a major update to the standard music app for the users who want deeper features. I find it very restrictive.
Very possible. I can see room for improvement, and maybe this has contributed to a delay in the Classical app. Even if the app is separate, I can see them reimagining the UI and applying this to the main app.

Apple should try to fix all the issues with the music app before bringing another app online. All the issues with the library or multiple libraries. The constant problems with music playing when it’s not supposed to be. Getting album art etc.

"Classical' music soundtracks always make me throw up in my mouth a little each time I hear one.
Andrea Bocelli sounds like a duck, and Mariah Carey like a knackered sparrow.
Children's concerts are never good, in the same way going to a concert outside the big cosmopolitan cities is usually disappointing.

Yes, I am a snob. It is a different type of listening.

This is partly why a separate category makes sense. Pop, Rock, Rap, and anything modern is different.
