This isn't very well publicised and would be a killer feature if it got really granular and let you choose specific services for different members.

So if, say, my wife was the organizer for the family plan we share and where I am just a member, can I, as just a member, purchase an Apple Music family subscription and share it with her?
In other words, is it just the organizer who can make such purchases? Or can individual members do so? I’m thinking perhaps it is the former since that plan is attached to a specific payment method, but thoughts from the group would be helpful.
If you’re already in a family subscription you cannot create another until you leave that one.
Everyone in the family group can make purchases, it’s just the organiser is the one who pays unless the other have their own iTunes credit balance which would come from that first.
As an organiser you can set it so you are notified of an intended purchase which you can accept or decline.
