Apple Music First Impressions: Convenient All-in-One Experience With Overwhelming Design

Streaming music is not for me. However I think that this could increase piracy if spotify has an exclusive album, rdio has one and Apple Music. People will just get annoyed by that and find music elsewhere.
Or maybe they could simply buy what's not available on Music (if that particular artist is so important to them) and continue with their Music subscription. Honestly, the idea of pirating never crossed my mind just because of exclusives. You don't know what's on people's minds.

Still waiting to hear how this plays with iTunes Match.

Match seems to be baked into Apple Music, but my match subscription renewed two weeks ago. If I cancel do I get that money towards apple music?

I suggest you write to Apple Support. They should refund you if you tell them you're gonna subscribe to Apple Music.

If you save a playlist for offline listening to your mac or PC, can you then synchronize that playlist to an older iPod like a Shuffle or a Nano? That would be nice for workouts, etc. I can see them limiting this though, because you could fill up an iPod Classic with AppleMusic songs and then stop subscribing....unless you synced the iPod again, how would it know if you still have a subscription?

iOS 8.4 devices only.

Could everyone come here and post as soon as iOS 8.4 is available, please? It's important that I know the second it comes out, and I don't want to miss out. Multiple independent confirmations would be ideal. Thanks!

You forgot to end your comments with /s

I don't think it was ever confirmed to be exclusive to iTunes. If I remember the MacRumors post yesterday correctly they said AC/DC was coming to AM, Spotify, and Rdio.

Up until today they've been exclusive to iTunes for digital sourcing I think. No streaming service had their music for sure. Big turnaround from them. I'm sure I read they didn't agree with streaming at all.

Spotify and many other services that exist today won't exist in 2 years. I predict Apple to completely own and control the streaming market within 2 years. Amazon and Google will be able to compete and survive but that's it.

Spotify can survive if they're profitable but they're not, so that's not encouraging for all their members.

I don't get it... Do I still need my 'Match' subscription if I get this???

...I don't CARE at all about Beats 1...

)

I don't think so. I think if you drop Match you lose the ability to "upgrade" your non-iTunes sourced old mp3s to a higher quality iTunes copy though I think you will still be able to stream higher quality versions but you won't own the upgraded tracks. If you have already upgraded your old files, then there really isn't any need to continue Match as far as I can tell.

Or you could check your own iOS device for updates.

It looks a lot like beats music app user interface... If thats the case, it is going to be horrible..very horrible.. And playlists will be even more horrible..

So "Library" will just include purchases made from iTunes? Most of my "owned" music is ripped from CD's.

It sounds like the curation is far superior. Curation full stop isn't what sets it apart from Spotify, but the level of talent curating the music is. Also, failing all else, it gives you access to a larger selection of music.
BGR has already started digging Spotify's grave. I think it's a bit premature if only because Spotify has the free with ads tier and the student discount. Is someone currently paying nothing going to start paying $10 a month because the curation is a bit better with Apple Music? Of course if Spotify loses a lot of its paid subscribers to Apple Music then it could be curtains for them. I'll be curious to see what happens when Apple Music comes to Android and how Apple gets Google Play music users to switch.

Your tunes library is yours. Take command of it! Stop lending it out like your lawnmower and not having it available when YOU need it. Geez.
What? I don't understand your post. How does Google Play Music have any comparison to loaning out your lawnmower?

Everything you purchase from Google Play Music store integrates with the streaming service flawlessly just like Apple Music...

I hope "it's going to take you time to learn it" isn't going to be a signature line attributed to new Apple products.

I can forgive the Watch for being less intuitive than an iPad. With the original Mac there were manuals that included instructions on how to "drag and drop" so customers do have to learn new products.

However, one thing I thought about the Apple Music demo was how complicated the UI looked. Could be overthinking things, though, and maybe I'll be eating my words once I get my hands on it :)
Apple can't win for losing. People say they hand hold their customers too much by oversimplifying their UI's (because people wanna feel they are smart and can figure stuff out and tweak as they go along) and now people are saying they overwhelming them.
Seems like people have never used Windows.
