Spotify for music discovery is unmatched.
Apple Music for library management is unmatched.

Gotta have both.

Glad I'm not the only one who subscribes to both services. But seriously, if it wasn't for AM's library management, I would be solely committed to Spotify.

Yeah me too probably, as a pure streaming service it's much better - faster, easier to navigate, less sluggish, all tracks play instantly.

I didn't think I was going to like it. I waited about a year after the initial release before activating the 3-month trial. And I started the trial when I knew I'd have lots of spare time to really dig in and get the most out of it.

I found out that I love it. I've discovered tonnes of new artists.

The "social" aspect of it though, is almost completely useless to me. I don't know anyone personally who uses Apple Music. On the flip side, I only know 2 or 3 people who use Spotify. I've been an iTunes guy since Mac OS 9, I love the fact that iCloud music library is part of iTunes and the Music app on my phone. The syncing of all that data just can't be beat.

I have been using the trial of this, pretty good, but I can get Spotify at a discounted price so may switch. Need to check it out first in my car as Apples iPhone music app just gives me USB read errors a lot so i have to find the last track again. I will see how Spotify goes. I was set on Apple Music because my car would give some voice control with it, but it’s s pain if all I want to do is continue from the last song playing.

“Music is at the heart of Apple’s DNA.”

Ok, let’s get the iPod Touch updated then :D
And reverse all the changes made to music app. #MMGA. (Make music great again).

Good for Apple. I wish they would stop spamming me about it though. I don't know how many times I have to hit no thanks on the trial pop up. I also disable Apple Music once per week in the music settings but it magically gets re enabled every week on it's own. I honestly expect more from Apple when it comes to user experience than to be nagged and spammed for a service. Just separate Apple Music from the music app and stop spamming me.
This is exactly the reason why I did not even bother disabling Apple Music until recently, when Apple was aggressively forcing me (yes I use “force” though it is a strong word) to sub to Apple Music. Believe it or not, I have a chance to enjoy Apple Music free for 6 months, but Apple Music does not have what I want, plus I don’t want it to destroy my iTunes library.

Umm, a billion iOS users and only 4% of them use the built-in music platform?

EDIT: Corrected by another user. Apple Music works on other platforms too.

So a billion iOS users and *less than* 4% of them use the built-in music platform.

Sounds like a big win!! Narf.
You have ignored all users who are not using Apple Music whatsoever but still use iTunes.

Sorry, but I don't rent software and I don't rent music.

If I want free ad supported streaming music, I turn my radio on.
No user account needed, no tracking information possible, no CreditCard information stored, a choice of Music genres , a device to listen with a headphone socket costs about $10. No cellular data is queried, no cellular account is needed. It even works in areas where there is no cellphone coverage, especially when there is a natural disaster and you want up to date information. It has replaceable batteries and will run a hell of a lot longer than a cellphone when the power it out.
And it existed way before cellphone was even in its infant stage. An ancient technology that will continue to last for a few more decades.

Funnily enough, a radio costs more than $10 in Australia. Usually $20-30.

I was referring to the service, since services are what software used to be.

Apple hasnt got the memo yet.

Never in my 20 years of Apple fanboyism did I think I'd wish they would learn from Microsoft.

But sheesh

Same here, it is annoying. Also, I have iTunes Match and always worry I will accidentally activate Apple Music and have it ruin my cloud storage & local storage.

Apple Music hit a new milestone this week as it officially reached 40 million paid subscribers across 115 countries, reports Variety. The new number was shared in a memo circulated by Eddy Cue, who also announced the promotion of Oliver Schusser to Apple's new head of Apple Music Worldwide.

Schusser previously served as vice president of Apple Music and International Content and has worked alongside Eddy Cue for several years handling Apple's non-U.S. affairs for Apple Music, the App Store, iTunes Movies and TV shows, iBooks, Podcasts, and more. He is said to have had a key role in Apple's recently announced, but not yet finalized, acquisition of Shazam.

Apple hit its new 40 million subscriber milestone less than a month after iTunes chief Eddy Cue announced 38 million subscribers at the SXSW conference in Austin, Texas, suggesting the music service is continuing to gain subscribers at a rapid pace.

Apple Music had 27 million subscribers last June, 30 million subscribers last September, 36 million subscribers in February, and 38 million subscribers in March. Adding an additional 2 million subscribers to hit 40 million subscribers in April marks Apple Music's fastest growth yet.

According to Cue, Apple also has an additional eight million people who are testing Apple Music through the three-month free trial that the company offers.

A recent report from The Wall Street Journal has suggested that Apple Music is on track to overtake Spotify in U.S. subscribers as soon as this summer because its five percent growth rate per month outpaces Spotify's two percent growth rate.

Spotify, when it filed for IPO in late February, said that it has 71 million paying subscribers in total along with 159 million monthly active users.
