Redundant? Yes and no. I've ordered a VW ID.4, an electric car made by the company that owns Audi, so there's a lot of parts and feature sharing.
There have been some reviews of the ID.5 (coupe variant) in Germany, and it comes with the upcoming Version 3.1 software update. One review of the 3.1 software I looked at showed that it is offering both Apple Music and Spotify. The car also has wired and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can use whatever you prefer. I would be quite surprised if Audi didn't have Spotify as a choice if Volkswagen does.
The car does come with a few years of wireless control (start/stop climate control and so forth), but I'm not sure if there's an immediate fee for connectivity. I don't know if I'm going to pay for it after the complimentary period runs out. We'll see. If I don't, no big deal. Somebody else out there will make use of it.
I plan to use wireless CarPlay most of the time, since everything's already set up the way I like it, but having Apple Music built-in is handy for me (I don't use Spotify, personally). Normally, I do have my phone with me, but if for some reason I don't, it's nice to have another option.
Another consideration: VW uses Verizon for in-car services. Verizon has a pretty good network in many areas, and there may be times when the car has a signal but my T-Mobile phone doesn't. I might want to keep listening to random songs instead of just using my local library of podcasts and songs.
