This is such a non issue it’s no wonder people are so fragile these days. Once downloaded, replace the app with your preferred app and carry on living your sheltered life.

Considering how quick the customers of that fruit flavoured company come to defend it anytime something like this happens, I gotta say - your oral footwear polishing comment is just a tad ironic.

Someone please feel pity for a billionaire CEO on Twitter. An app just installed to the default location on his phone.

I am shedding tears for billionaire Twitter cry babies. They need out pity and a few hundred more billion thrown at them and their little circle of billionaire scammers, thieves and crackheads.

Unfortunately the tears I shed for them are tears of laughter. I would like to see them abolished, depleted and non-existent. I am the majority.

This article makes it sound like Music is actually removing ("installing over") other apps.

Working as intended until they are caught out and then it becomes a 'bug'

Microsoft got caught playing that game with it's many versions of windows. They would release an update and low and behold, something that was Microsoft specific replaced a 3rd party program. Out went the 3rd party desktop icon and in came Microsofts one and when users complained it was a case of 'Oh sorry, it's due to a bug in the update, it will be fixed soon'. Yeah right, who are these companies trying to kid.
This kind of conspiratorial thinking really annoys me. It’s one thing to accept a conspiracy when there’s no contrary evidence (but we, as a society, jump to conspiracy thinking so soon), but when there’s all the evidence in the world that this is clearly a bug (look at how it works, definitely a bug), conspiracy thinking no longer is “free thought” but instead “outrage thought”. And there are people out there willing to use our tendency to conspiratorial thinking to control us (or some portion of the population, at least). Conspiratorial thinking also damages our ability to form social groups (especially to allow people outside of our ingroup into our existing social groups), prevents us from accepting people at face value, and reinforces this division and social silo tendency we’ve been seeing in society lately. Do conspiracies exist? Sure. Is the “everything’s a conspiracy” mindset more harmful than good? Definitely! What’s more, there will always be someone willing to sell you a yarn about hidden knowledge and conspiracies to keep you ignorant, never mind that they don’t have anything you don’t have.

After 7 years it’s time for this app to finally get out of beta stage!

Indeed it is. What I dont understand its how the introduction of higher bitrates files (lossless), can cause playback glitches. Oh well.

Anyway it is good new if it works as intended with 15.5
I hope they finally fixed the AirPlay problem I have since iOS 15 , and hope it won’t be a buggy mess again in 3 months with iOS 16….

I’m on the beta program and the problems I have are still there. Maybe Apple has fixed other issues, but not the ones I have, which are significant. It may be down to iCloud sync, that it doesn’t remember my changes and keep going back to a previously synced version of my library. There should be an option to find out what is going on with the syncing

oh silly me for saying in my post 'working as intended'. I forgot that Apple is god around here and they never ever do anything wrong. shame on me 'smacks my hand'

This is likely a bug. It’s likely that the app is installing itself into the default location when it was originally on the device.

This isn’t nefarious, it’s just general oversight.

Music has been literally defaulting in the dock since iPhoneOS 1.0.

Uninstalling stock apps has been available since iOS 12 and I'm willing to bet this is the first time this has been noticed. (The article says 2019 was the first report… so, iOS 13/12) just likely hasn’t had the attention paid to it.

Stop looking for things to get outraged over.

A well reasoned and thought out response. Are you sure you’re on the right forum?

Nah, it’s more about the fact that mistakes happen. I’m a software developer who works in QA, I have nearly infinite job security, as there will never be a product without bugs. It’s more an application of Hanlon’s Razor and Murphy’s Law, but we jump to maliciousness, we think everything is a slight against us. Can’t be a healthy mindset for society in the long run, not being able to extend grace, not being able to extend the benefit of a doubt, not being able to forgive

@211

The "changes not sticking"/metadata reverting issue of Icloud Music Library, unfortunately, its a long standing (its been going on for months now) server side issue that affect several OS versions both on IOS and Mac Os. Apple is aware of this and working on a fix, as they told a fellow macrumors poster a while ago.

I suspect that they are going to rewrite Icloud Music library completely, like when Safari tab syncing stopped working for months.

I was referring about the myriad of little issues that currently affects Apple Music playback specifically. Those seem completely fixed on the latest betas.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.

Well… I think I’m likely just on the wrong internet in general.

This appears to be the darkest timeline.

I keep Discord in the bottom right corner and it gets replaced. I didn't think this was a bug, I've seen it several times and it's a minor annoyance. I install Apple Music sometimes to access my purchased library but it's a terrible experience most of the time so I have it uninstalled usually.

The main problem I have is when my iPhone connects to my car, I can intentionally be playing audio from another source and Music will take over the bluetooth, blast some random song.

That is the reason I had to delete the AppleMusic app on my phone. Every single time I got in my vehicle it would change to AppleMusic. It was so annoying that I just deleted the AM app.

How about we get some front page attention please for this terrible XCode Previews app inserting itself on the first empty slot of iOS all the time, even after removing it from the Home Screen? (With no way to delete)

Please.
Xcode icon disappeared on its own yesterday. Huzzah! Thank you Apple.
